Ordered Fitbit online for my mom's birthday. When I got to store they were having computer problems which is fine, but after 5-10 minutes at the counter I began getting frustrated from lack of communication and the lack of concern shown by employees. One employee in particular felt it was a good idea to poke fun at my last name in between communicating his nightly plans with everyone in the store which included some basketball and shooting rifles. Eventually my Fitbit made it to the counter in a very damaged box that was taped and taped back together. I immediately was upset and requested a refund because it was obviously not suitable for a gift, or in my opinion even to be presented to a consumer. All other employees at this point had vanished except the cashier who was new. She had all kinds of issues doing refund. Took approx another 5-10 minutes for anything to happen. Eventually she handed me $70 cash which I found strange considering I paid with my debit card online but she reassured me she followed store policy. Immediately after this terrible experience contacted Academy corporate, they gave me a number to call. Their resolution was for me to return to the store, provide the $70 cash provided at refund, give them my debit card to refund the transaction properly because the employee did not follow store policy on refunds. As much as I loved having an Academy near by looks like I'll just get my stuff from Bass Pro or West Marine like I did prior to their arrival and wish them luck on figuring out the finances. Btw Took pics of fitbit and refund receipt as the person at corporate had a hard time believing the...
Read moreIf only I could leave zero stars. This place including management is A JOKE. Came in last week, located the hydrojug endcap which clearly stated ENTIRE HYDROJUG COLLECTION 20% OFF. It was not ringing up correctly at the register so the sweet cashier called over the young, dark haired manager with long fake nails (so you know exactly who I am referring to)standing next to her who immediately clapped back “the cherry cup does not apply to the sale and the sign clearly states it”. The cherry cup was ringing up $39.99 and not the sticker price $34.99. Then the cashier told me, “you can go over there and double check the sign”. So I did, and I took a picture and showed the cashier and the rude MOD. So then, instead of taking 20% off my entire order she gave me $5 off. No apologies, no thank you or anything. I was so upset, I just left. I WENT BACK that evening after work to speak with someone else about the error and not receiving 20% off. I was helped by a young gentleman with long blonde hair, and a tall MOD with short hair and a beard. The young man was extremely apologetic and helpful and informed me that they are no longer running the sale and the sign should have been removed TWO DAYS AGO but he said he would honor the sale price. The manager came over and gave me the 20% refund (after I had to show him the photo of the 20% off sign) onto an academy gift card and I left. Fast forward to today, I went back to academy to use the gift card and let me tell you how upset I was when the cashier told me the gift card had a ZERO BALANCE! I was so pissed I just walked out and left....
Read moreDrove from Forney to Terrell to make a purchase. Found the items went to pay and they said that my check would not go through. This has randonly happened at the Terrell and Mesquite stores prior. The manager was called and played with it and I explained that I somtimes have experenced problems and its always Academy, then she said all of the businesses on that row have this problem. I told her that I (and wife) frequently buy from Hobby lobby and never experence this problem, she just walked off without making a comment. The original casher called the check clearing company then told me its "My bank", I know how much I had it the bank and asked her "are you going to try and fix the problem?", she expressed indifference. None of the employees cared about my business nor cared about fixing any problems just could care less. After wasting gasolene and over one hour I drove to my bank and confirmed that I had enough to pay ten Plus time the items cost. Although an anoyance the indifference and creation of misinformation was the greatest insult. I experence the same poor customer service with Payless Cashways years ago and the went out of business. I don't expect that Academy will go out of business but I would like to see consern, customer service, and problem solving be one of the experences be incorporated into their value systems. The manager was the teams model for...
