I WOULDN'T TAKE YOUR JEWELRY HERE OR BUY FROM THIS PLACE. Horrible quality! Horrible service. For being a company in business for over 40 years (and don’t worry, they will tell you this fact at least 4 times before you even tell them why you’re there) they have some big issues! So many issues I have to list them… Paid them extra to size up my engagement ring with platinum gold. Always thought it fit weird. When I had the Diamond reset 2 years later in a new band. Found out they charged me for the extra platinum gold price and was. 1/4 size smaller than what I paid for! So they stole gold from me that I paid for and didn’t do the service I paid for at the correct size. New band took two weeks longer than quoted then CAME BACK WITH THE PRONGS CROOKED AND NOT TOUCHING THE DIAMOND IN PLACE AT ALL! Had to leave it there again to be corrected. I was told by the owners son that his dad (the owner) would be doing the work. When it was wrong he was very quick to blame someone else. Don’t care, your name is literally on the sign. A Leo took longer than quoted. Now after 6 months the bottom part of my band they reset my Diamond in and sized is tarnishing. Indicating they didn’t use real gold or the same gold to fill it. Do not use this place. If they were good once, they no longer have good quality. For one client to have so many avoidable issues is very concerning and speaks very poorly to...
Read moreI have been a customer of McClave Jewelers for well over 30 years and have bought many pieces of fine jewelry from them. The McClaves are a wonderful family with several adult offspring who contribute their extraordinary talents and customer care to this generations-old business. My experience has always been positive and very satisfactory. I am treated as family and have received personal greetings during holidays from the family. The brothers who have assisted us are Charles, an amazing jeweler, Ron, Steve and Greg. Even their wonderful, mother, God rest her soul, had helped us in years past.
I am always amazed at reviewers who don't get their expectations met the one and only time they visit a merchant, then leave a one-star negative review, or worse yet, a one-star review with no supporting statement. Do these people ever give the merchant a chance to make it right? This just seems more like venting than constructive criticism. These reviews have the potential for reaching a very wide audience and to really hurt a good business that does not deserve it.
Definitely shop at McClave's...
Read moreI had a great experience working with Greg McClave in the Thousand Oaks store. I had an old family ring which I wanted to have taken apart and made into a pendant. He warned me about the hazards of working with these fine stones (opals and diamonds) but didn't discourage me from doing so and was enthusiastic to provide me with the piece I wanted and gave me an estimate. He called me personally about the item when it was ready and it was less than he had originally quoted me. I am very pleased with the outcome of the final product and there was no damage to it or the original ring. I plan to return with other items I may want to have resized or remade. I was very happy with the work and...
