I find it really odd that this page has been getting flooded with 5 star reviews in such a short time. I cant find any reviews that are more than a year old yet there are 45 reviews. When i compare to other like shops i get a different picture. No other shops are being reviewed at this rate. Lets compare... Ajpm downtown is theparent company of center street, they have only 38 google reviews and 5 on yelp. It took them 8 years to accumulate 38 reviews. Center street surpassed them in. Only 1 year. Other ajpm franchises only have 3 reviews (broadway) and 4 reviews (ajpme). Something dont smell right here. Why wasnt center st receiving such praise when it was ajpm2? This business did not just open a year ago. Ajpm2 has no reviews and a search for them leads me to this page of all 5 star recently posted reviews. Letscompare some more. Coin cottage, only 20 reviews spanning 8 years. Columbia coin...same thing took 8 years to accumulate 19 reviews. Harrys coin 20 reviews in 1st year in buisness (fake). Alder goldbeen around a loooong time clockin in at 9 total reviews. Gold and silver supply took 5 years to get 4 reviews. Portland precious metals only 23 over past 3 years. Shoot, center st got more reviews in 1 year than all 3 liberty coin locations put together in the past 8 years. You get the point. These 5 star reviews areas real as CNN news. Dig deeper folks and...
Read moreI don't know why I am giving a 2 star when I had no interaction but here's my experience.
I came to the building a couple days ago during this nasty ice storm. I thought I was super late, but it turned out that I got there at 3:30, when the posted hours are that they closed at 4. So I am wondering why I ran across the highway (99) to try and hurry into their store, almost getting hit, running through 6 inches of slush and ice.. I guess I was excited there was a coin shop very close to my house. Anyways, I go to enter, the door was locked and I saw someone inside come to the door, made sure it was locked and they shut the light off and left? Or hid? I mean, if you don't want to do business at 3:30, 30 minutes til you close, I get it. I normally don't like coming in right before close. But since it's your store, post a last call up? Because I felt shoved away by that small interaction. I was excited to bring my coins in and see their worth, but I get someone shutting off the light on me and "leaving." So if that's how you start off by treating customers, I'll go someplace else that actually appreciates old, interesting coins and other coin collectors in their store.
Good...
Read moreI contacted a few different places to sell my coins and the first one I spoke to, which I won't mention by name but rhymes with 'Smiberty coin and currency,' offered me $800, which was significantly lower than the Palladium scrap value. What made it worse is that they claimed they usually sell them for about $1,000 which was clearly a false statement since the coins had sold out from the US Mint for $2,350 a few months ago. When I asked if they had any more for sale, I was told they would need to order them (2nd lie). Dennis from Center Street, however, called around and did actual research (Palladium coins are not common) to give me a much more reasonable offer from a dealer. I say from a dealer, because they are a business and no one should ever expect to get full retail offers from a dealer who needs to make a profit to stay in business. I will be using them from now on. Edit. After posting this I took a look at the reviews and noticed they took the time to comment and address concerns to all reviews....
