Taglio Salon — Local services in Tigard

I am so disappointed to have to write this review. Today I visited Taglio Salon and was helped by the owner and her stylist colleague. I have never felt so humiliated and put down by a professional before. I came into the salon hoping to have some reassurance and help choosing a the right hair color. Although, I left completely devastated and overwhelmed. It started out by looking over hair color samples. My hair is bleached blonde and fair light for reference. While I was struggling to pick the right hair color, the colleague stylist said my current hair color made me "look sick". In my opinion, that was a harsh thing to say to someone struggling. After the owner had to contact her "mentor" on the phone she finally picked out some colors. When I told her I was going to send some picture to my mom for reassurance, she proceeded to keep saying "your mom is not a hair color expert or stylist" - as if I should not get a second or other opinion. I felt completely uncomfortable in her chair and as I was about to leave. She then sat me down and did a big chunk of hair strands for a bleach test. Instead of talking to me about hair colors, she watched videos on her phone while I sat in silence - totally uncomfortable. After 10 minutes, she grabbed a dry towel and vigorously took the bleach off which made no difference because I my hair was already light. I asked her several times to please wash it off because she did not use any foils to separate the hair. After washing it out with ONLY shampoo, I couldn't wait to leave. I then asked her if I could have some time to think about the hair colors and how much I owed and she said "$45". My mouth dropped. As hair consultation are normally free. This was the worst hair consultation I've ever had and I even had to pay for it. I wish...

I've been a customer at Taglio for several years now and will never go anywhere else. DeDe cuts and colors my hair with exceptional skill. I have very thin, not easily managed hair, and through the year's I've learned that not just anyone can cut hair like mine. DeDe gives me beautiful cuts that look great when I leave the salon, and still look great months later. She knows I rarely come in more than 3 times a year, so she expertly cuts it so that it will grow out well. I was very apprehensive about a professional color job prior to having DeDe color my hair. I always colored it myself, because I hated the "stripey" look that I saw on women who got their's done professionally. DeDe changed all that for me. While it certainly costs me a lot more than doing it myself, the result is a beautiful, natural color. She also will color it lighter in the summer and darker in the winter...because that is what my hair would do naturally. She's a pro, and an expert at her job. The service and friendliness from the rest of the staff...

Kathy Strivens, Master Stylist and Colorist truly lives up to her title.

Kathy was able to give me the most perfectly stacked layers in my wavy hair where other stylists kept missing layers or ignoring them. I grew tired of simply getting my haircut, and I wanted someone who would help me style my hair. I wanted someone who would truly listen to what I was trying to accomplish, and then deliver it, and Kathy did exactly that. She takes her time, and she is meticulous. Apart from being a master at her craft, Kathy is a pleasure to work with.

Some stylist really shy away from long hair, but Kathy does not. In addition to hairstyling, Kathy also does massages in the very cozy and comfortable massage room in the studio. The table is very soft and warm and comfortable. The table itself is heated.

The salon is located in a very convenient spot, and I didn’t have any trouble finding parking. I was seen right away and the salon is inviting and comfortable.
