New: When Mungenast Acura sold me my used Jeep Grand cherokee, they gave me a coupon booklet to use that had 40 dollar off service coupons which work for oil changes. Since buying the car, I have now gotten 3 oil changes from their service center. And all 3 times, they've charged me a different price, increasing each time ($21, $26, and now $31). I asked the service rep today why the prices are different and she just said something about me having a non-acura car that uses more oil and how i used a coupon. Even though I've gotten the same exact service in the same exact car all three times. I then messaged the dealership on their website to see if I could get an answer and said I would have to start looking elsewhere for oil changes if this keeps happening. I received a call back from the salesman who sold me the car in response to my message. He pretty much just said he doesn't know why the price has gone up because that's all on the service department and he thought the price of oil may have gone up because he claims his oil change prices have gone up as well. He also said he understood if I'd have to search elsewhere for a place to get an oil change. It was pretty much a call to say, "we hear you and we're responding so you don't feel like your voice isn't being heard, but at the same time, we're not too concerned with having a reason for this or with keeping your business."
I appreciated the call, but I would've assumed they would have A) gotten a service advisor to call me in regards to a service related question and B) at least attempted to make some effort to keep my business.
I still definitely recommend buying from Mungenast and the service has been smooth, but the variance in pricing for the same exact oil/filter change with no answers as to why is a bit concerning. Next time I will ask up front how much the service will cost.
Old: I had a great experience working with Steve to buy a used Jeep Grand Cherokee from this dealership. I came in with my eye on a 2016 I had seen online. Initially they thought it had been sold, so Steve quickly recommended a very low mileage 2018 model Jeep GC they had on the lot. After finding out the 2016 was actually available, I was able to test drive both and ended up buying the 2018 anyways. This was my first time buying a car for myself and I was very pleased with the process. I was happy to see the only fee I had to pay on top of the sticker price was a $199 admin fee. I expected to see a few hundred, if not thousand dollars in weird fees. The car didn't come with any floor mats, so they agreed to purchase some for me if I were to purchase the vehicle. A week after buying the car, the floor mats they ordered were delivered and I was happy to see they got me some very nice rubber Jeep branded mats and not just standard carpet ones. Pretty much everyone I encountered there was a pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend purchasing a used vehicle from Mungenast St....
Read moreWorst Car buying experience I’ve ever had from any dealership in Saint Louis. I purchased a pre-owned 2017 Chevy Malibu from this dealership earlier this year in March of 2023. Funny enough this is the lowest mileage car I’ve ever purchased yet I’ve had nothing but problems with in since. A week after I purchased it the car would not recognize that it was in park therefore it would not turn off. After alerting them of the issue they fixed it without hesitation. Fast forward a few weeks later and the check engine light came on. Once again I had to take time out of my schedule to bring the car in and was told it needed some sort of “computer update” which they updated. Now here we are a few months later in early August of 2023 and my brakes were making a flapping noise so I decided to bring the car back in yet again. This time around I was told that the front brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. More specifically, they indicated that this issue needed immediate attention as they stated that the pads were worn below the minimum brake pad thickness. They quoted me $600 and some change to replace everything but I explained the insanity of purchasing a car only a few months ago with parts needing immmediate attention already. With any pre-owned vehicle I expect maintenance items such as this to pop up, but never this soon. The sales manager Marco approved to split the transaction with me and perform the job for $300 brushing the issue off and stating that brakes and rotors are a part of general maintenance. Yes Marco, replacing brakes and rotors is a part of general maintenance, but it’s a bad look on the Mungenast brand for me to be performing repairs this soon after purchase. Keep in mind I just had my first oil change since purchasing the car last week. Translation: Mungenast sold me a vehicle with brakes and rotors that were already on their last leg. Due to the number of issues encountered already, I’ll probably just trade the car in. I can no longer support the Mungenast brand nor will I recommend them to anyone else. PS most of the employees I’ve interacted with are great though and...
Read moreThis is a follow up from my previous review of my car buying experience with this dealership stemming from March 2023. First my car would not recognize that it was that a park which was something to do with the transmission. Next up was the check engine light that came on. Next, I received an safety and emissions inspection from them that passed on all front , yet somehow about a month later I had to bring my car in for them to repair the brakes because they were on their last leg. Fast forward, to today I was traveling in the far left lane on the highway with my 1 year old daughter in the backseat and a warning light flashes causing my car to quickly drop speed to about 20 mph ( luckily we were able to make it off the highway without harm).
I contacted the service department immediately and told them that I was having it towed to them. When I showed up I spoke with my original salesman Asheed Graves who said that I would have to contact one of the managers named Marco. In the midst of the conversation he essentially stated that while they try to do their best, it’s still a used car and went on about how his new car lit up like a Christmas tree with only 5k miles, which ultimately downplayed the situation. Not to mention the part where he replied about how highly rated the dealership was and how the only bad complaint that he had ever seen was from me. Then he asked me did I buy an extended warranty to which I answered that I did not. My wife who was there with me questioned him as to what they had to do with the situation at hand as this does not have anything with all of the trouble that I have experienced. He went on about how he buys all of his used cars with extended warranties and when my wife said she didn’t agree that they were necessary he simply stated well we can agree to disagree.
Moving forward I will be filing a complaint with the BBB, the attorney general’s office, and potentially consulting my attorney. This is ridiculous for a well respected dealership supposedly known for doing...
