Casual Dragon Games — Local services in Town of Amherst

I used to be a mainstay at Pokemon standard and MTG draft at Dragon Snack before the whole ownership fiasco and Casual Dragon bought everything out. Totally recognize that the store is a different business and I appreciate that an we aren't out an LGS in this part of town.

However, I just don't like the structure of tournaments here since the buyout, specifically the prizing. Feels bad to draft a good deck, play well, go 2-1 losing to another great deck in round 3 that places 1st, and getting literally zero prizing. Asked the owner if that is how prizes typically go, and he said that's the way they do it. This was at the tail end of Bloomburrow, and after that frankly I just decided to draft at other stores a little farther out that structure drafts as a pack-per-win or similar system.

The merchandise is the same and is a quality selection, it's great having a place to buy singles and board games basically around the block, but I don't see myself playing tournaments here, which is a shame because I really love...

Was in town with a coworker who asked if I had any interest giving MTG a try - we ended up stopping in at Casual Dragon Games per his quick digging for a FNM draft in the area and could not have had a better experience - everyone was so friendly and welcoming, willing to share the “how-to’s” with a complete novice like myself. Went in with little to no idea how to play outside of a quick tutorial on MTG Arena and played with some great folks from the Buffalo area helping me learn along the way. 4 hours of fun and left with an appreciation for the complexity of the game and some new cards in hand,...

This was one of my favorite stops on my return trip from Niagara falls. It was a popular store this evening when I stopped they had a magic the gathering event going on with a good turnout. The staff still found time to talk to me and answer questions while helping me find what I was looking for.
