Kohl's — Local services in Town of Babylon

My family and I have always enjoyed our visits to Kohls at the deer park location. Shopped at this store often. Unfortunately, my visit yesterday was shockingly disappointing and most concerning. As I browsed through the lingerie section, I was watched closely by a lingerie staff member. I thought it was just coincidence, but as I moved around in area, the employee followed me. I soon saw that a second employee now joined the effort. I asked if everything was ok and they smiled and simply said yes and went about their “ work”. It seemed obvious to me that I was profiled and targeted as a suspect individual that may steal a bra or panty??? My young son who was with me was most concerned as well. I simply decided to leave to purchase the items in hand and left that lingerie section. After waiting a few minutes on line to pay for my items, I reach the cashier where I now witness “ a changing of the guards” and here comes the very woman that was at lingerie section to now handle my purchase. I asked her straight out” aren’t you the woman that was watching me closely at the lingerie section- why are you now here? She answered “ yes - everyone at lingerie also handles the register!” That was it. I responded” well, I’m glad it’s you so that you can witness I’m a paying customer and not a suspect!!!! She smiled and simply handed me my receipt. Did I mention I am a Latin woman, was well dressed, well represented and ironically enough- a working professional with above average income. Today, I visited Kohl’s to return several Amazon packages, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing due to the behavior of the employee (he had a mustache) handling the returns.

As soon as we entered the line with our shopping cart, the associate began commenting to others in line about how we probably had a lot of packages—before we had even reached the counter. When it was our turn, we politely greeted him and even apologized in advance for the number of returns. He didn’t acknowledge our greeting and continued the transaction with a visibly annoyed expression, frequently making faces and mumbling under his breath.

There was a bit of confusion during the process, and we apologized again, but his demeanor remained unpleasant and unprofessional. It made an already awkward situation feel even more uncomfortable.

Amazon offers customers the flexibility to return items that may not meet their needs, and Kohl’s, as a partner in this process, is providing a valuable service. That said, customers should not be made to feel like a burden for simply using a service that is advertised and encouraged. If employees are frustrated by this process, that’s an issue that should be addressed internally between Kohl’s and Amazon—not taken out on customers.

I hope Kohl’s will consider offering additional training or support to their staff to ensure all customers are treated with basic courtesy...

Been coming at kohl’s deer park for a long time and today was the worst . I bought a shirt yesterday and the person ringing me up forgot the security thingy on it ... I went back one day later with out a receipt (totally forgot it ) the tag says kohl’s doesn’t matter when I bought it I bought from u so take the stupid thing off ... the cashier farida asked me 100 questions asking me why I don’t have it in a bag and why is the hanger still on .. girl I didn’t get a bag cause you charge for one and I didn’t wear the shirt so it’s on the hanger you gave me with it that says kohl’s She told me I had to go to customer service to get it removed so they can look up my account to make sure I got it at kohl’s , farida are you serious the tab says kohl’s the hanger says kohl’s ? I walked to customer service biting my tongue cause my mom raise me better , when I get there the lovely lady said let me take off , I asked her do u need to look up my account ( no miss you are good ) sorry we forgot to take it off . Farida needs training not just in customer service but as a person in general .... I still can’t believe I had that conversation with her ... if anyone from kohl’s deer park is reading this please speak with Farida ....
