Today I went into Macyās at smith haven mall with a friend to shop for my vacation. While on the first floor by the junior section, I asked a young associate that was basically hiding between the wracks if she could tell me where the rest of the women clothes were (I normally only shop at Macyās south shore mall in bay shore) I proceeded to ask if she could take a payment for me. She said she couldnāt take my payment because her register was close but that I could go to any other register in another department and they will take it. I passed by her register and the screen displayed āclose registerā which meant the register was open, she just didnāt feel like taking a payment. I Found 5 things I liked for the trip and proceeded to look for a register. They were all pretty busy except for intimates. When I went to check out there was a lady waiting in front of me, the only associate on the floor at the moment was one on one with a customer. She didnāt acknowledge both of us standing by the register, also somewhat understandable since she didnāt look once at the register. I turned around and I saw a young blonde girl in a black dress coming our way. Even though she wasnāt wearing a name tag I could tell she worked there. She went behind the register with the intentions of ringing (so I thought) and as the lady in front of me put the things down & tried to talk to her, the associate realize the other associate was behind by the underwear helping the same customer. She said āoh sheās hereā and left. Again, not acknowledging either of us or maybe thinking since her coworker was busy she could jump on the register and check the only two customers waiting. Me and my friend left the department and proceeded to look for another register. Went down to the first floor where I saw an associate from impulse retouching her make up and another behind the register. I figured they could just ring me up real quick since they had NO customers and I needed to get a couple of make up things anyway. I ask them if they could ring me up, the one behind the register Ally turned me away (nicely) saying itās clothes so I need to go to another register. I ask her again since by now Iām tired of looking for registers, I still had to ask her for help to find a new foundation and this Macyās wasnāt the most pleasant to be at this particular day. She says she canāt because they donāt have the sensor remover (doesnāt bother to check my merchandise didnāt have sensors). As I try to explain to them that I KNOW she can ring me up, because at ANY other Macyās Iāve been to, they have NEVER turn me away regardless of the department the register is in and on the few occasions they didnāt have a sensor remover they would ring me up anyway and either give me the receipt to go to another register with my merchandise and get it taken off or they will Go and take it off for me because obviusly, I donāt want to walk out of the store with a sensor on the clothes I just paid for. AMANDA the associate that was retouching her make up decides to step in uninvited & with an attitude tells me again that they will not be ringing me up because THIS IS COSMETICS. I proceed to tell her I KNOW where I am, and I also KNOW they CAN ring me up, they just DONT want to so please donāt use the excuse āthis is cosmeticsā.I ask for the girl behind the register (the nicer one of the two) for her name, Ally. But as Iām walking away, Amanda scuffs and decides to talk under her breath, I turned around and asked her for her name she says AMANDA loud, looking down on me and with an attitude. I say thank you good bye she MOCKS ME clocks her head and says āyouāre welcome good byeā. I am FURIOUS with this Macyās and their young nasty associate that donāt want to work and donāt respect the customer. I go to handbags were a NICE associates rings me up no problem, it was a pleasure to be rang up by her. I leave and spent the $150 I needed of make up at Ulta. I will talk everyone I know of stepping foot in this Macyās. As a platinum customer this was the worst store experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDO NOT SHOP HERE - they dont want your money and will frustrate you to no end! There really needs to allow a zero star rating...So frustrating. Note to managers: there are are least 6 employees that you should fire immediately! I should've just walked out the door with my items...and they wouldn't have known or cared (esp with the no bag policy in Suffolk County!). I was in the store 2 hours before closing (important to know). I had to go to 5 different registers before I could find an employee that was willing to actually do their job and let me pay for the items I was trying to buy! The first cashier (in the department my items were from) said she was going to be a while before she could ring anyone up because she was "working with" this woman who was still trying things on, but she had already started her order in the register (really? You can't void out a sale that you shouldn't have even started in the first place if the person wasn't done shopping?!) She directed me to a register "straight across the floor in the next department". I went there to be rudely addressed by a man saying he was "cleaning up his department and his register was closed" (even though he standing directly behind his register and not doing any "cleaning") I told him the other girl had sent me here to pay. "To purchase?" He says in a very thick and difficult to understand accent as he nods his head. So I put my items on the counter. He rudely says to me, "why you put those there? I told you I'm closing this area." So then I go to the next closest register that has two women standing behind the counter, who were "on break" (really? Why are you taking your break physically standing behind your register? It turns out one of them doesn't even work there but just talking with her friend!) I then proceed to the next register area, which winds up being men's fragrances and am told she can't ring me up because I have clothing to purchase and she doesn't have the security machine...I tell her neither of the two items I'm trying to pay for have security tags on them that would need to be removed (hence, I literally could've just walked out of the store with these items). "Doesn't matter, I don't ring clothes - you should go back to the department where you got them from". I can't believe it has to be this difficult to actually pay a company money to purchase the item. If I hadn't have had my daughter with me (who the 2 items were for), I probably would've just left never to return, and I was seriously contemplating just walking out the door with the items since they don't give you shopping bags in Suffolk County so it's not out of the ordinary to see people just carrying the items in their hands out of stores. But, I am an honest person, so I went to customer service and asked if they were willing to accept my American CASH to actually pay for items that their employers were trying to sell.... "of course, we accept cash. But you could've paid for these at any register in the store...you didn't need to come to Customer Service - this is for Returns and Online pick-ups." MACY'S IS NOW ON THE "NO SHOPPING" LIST OF MERCHANTS. Don't bother going to this Macy's -- they don't want your money and will only frustrate the hell out of you! ABSOLUTELY...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent shopping for my daughter's Jr. Prom dress. Not having much luck, we turned to leave the department when a sales associate asked if we had found anything. When we said no, she thought for a minute, then started walking us around showing us where we might find what we wanted. Her name was Wendy and she was fabulous. While we continued to look, she contacted someone in another department asking them to watch the floor while she walked us upstairs. She brought us to Lorraine. Apparently Lorraine is somewhat of an on-site stylist! She walked us around getting ideas of what my daughter liked, then we all returned to the first level where my daughter had seen a dress she wanted to try on. Well, that was THE dress. She wears a larger size so to find THE dress isn't always an easy errand. We thanked Lorraine and went to the register to pay. There was Wendy. She asked if we had had any luck. I told her we had and it was a dress we never would have found if she hadn't reached out to us after our initial search. She then explained that, although it wasn't marked, there was a presale and the dress I wanted was 30% off. She also said I would receive an additional 20% off if I opened a credit card. I cannot say enough great things about Wendy. She had been about to leave when she saw us return to the department with Lorraine and waited to find out if we had found something. I was so touched that she took the time. Silly, I know. But this was the best experience, by far, I have had at this store. I rarely even get anyone to help point out larger size dresses so this service was so truly appreciated and sincere that I asked to speak to a manager. Well, I was an emotional mess by that time, but luckily my daughter explained the events so Wendy and Lorraine were both recognized for...
