Above and Beyond Service – John Paul Taylor’s Saved Prom!
In April, my son and I went to Uomo Da Milano to get a suit for prom. We had to special order it, and we were told it would be ready by May 19th for alterations. We returned on May 19th for fitting, and were told the suit would be ready by May 29th. When that day came, we didn’t hear from anyone, so I called the morning of May 30th. The lady who answered was frazzled, telling me the store had just opened and she had three people waiting, asking if I could call back in 30 minutes. After waiting a few hours and calling back, I got no answer, so we decided to go in person.
When we arrived, they insisted I had the receipt/stub, which I didn’t have since they had taken it and made me take a picture instead. I showed them the picture, and the gentleman went to get the suit. My son tried it on but wasn’t sure about it, and then the gentleman disappeared. The lady didn’t seem to care, which matched our previous experiences with her. We went home, and my son tried on the suit again and confirmed that no alterations had been done—the legs weren’t shortened, the jacket sleeves weren’t adjusted, and the jacket wasn’t taken out.
With prom on June 7th and the situation happening on May 30th, I was desperate to find someone last-minute to fix the suit. Thursday evening, I called several places, but as expected, they were all booked or closed. On Friday morning, I called John Paul Taylor’s, who were booked out two weeks in advance. I explained what had happened, and to my surprise, they kindly fit us in that same morning. They reassured me the suit would be ready by Thursday evening, just in time for prom.
I can’t thank John Paul’s enough for their compassion and support in saving my son’s prom! They were kind, personal, and incredibly helpful. When we picked up the suit, it was perfect! My son looked dapper and on point, and we couldn’t have made it happen without John Paul Taylor’s.
I highly recommend them for their outstanding service and commitment to going above and beyond for...
Read moreUnfortunately every time I try to post my review, it doesn't show up publicly. I can only assume because it's too long. I felt that if I am leaving a negative review, it was necessary to share the entire experience, but I guess I can't do that. So here's the shortened version:
If you come here for mens suits, you'll be pleased with the quality, price, and service. But I would suggest looking elsewhere for women's alterations, specifically for a wedding dress.
John Paul Tailors had my wedding dress for a total of 3 moths and I had a total of 4 appointments with them. My final appointment was two weeks before my wedding where I took my dress home. I found myself sick to my stomach upset because I had a dress that was not properly altered, and even ruined in some spots. I had to scramble to find a new tailor to fix my dress before my wedding. Here's everything the new tailor had to fix: Fix their uneven hem job. Remove the two sets of cups that they tacked to the dress and instead place one cup inside the layers of the bust. Add darts to the bust to remove the extra fabric. COMPLETELY redo my bustle... I still had about 6 inches of fabric dragging the ground behind me, and she was very concerned that it would be stepped on and ripped out. Tack the seams back together from when they hemmed the dress. They simply cut through the fabric and didn't sew the seams back together so by then they had opened up about 3 inches from the bottom.
There is so so SO much more to this story and I wish I could post it here but apparently I can't. I did reach out to JPT to try to remedy the situation but unfortunately I never heard from them.
I'd like to clarify that this review has nothing to do with their ex-employee. I had full trust in all of the employees at John Paul Tailors and unfortunately they lost that trust over and over again with each appointment. Luckily, I did find another tailor to fix my dress even though I already paid for the botched...
Read moreI needed a suit for a wake and a funeral with a short lead time due to circumstance. To make things worse, I knew next to nothing about suits and had no idea where to start. Sam & Lori turned all of that on its head.
They helped me in every way another human being could in regards to this experience. They took the time to help me find a suit that looked great on me (which has been tough for me in the past) and made me feel welcome and comfortable in the store. They gave me a great deal that was well within my budget when they absolutely didn't have to. They even took the time out of their busy schedules to educate me on how to wear and care for the suit I was investing in. They helped with all the accessories from shoes, to a belt, to shirts, ties, and pocket squares and they made it a truly enjoyable experience. To top it all off, Sam took the jacket, pants, and vest, which I had requested to have altered within three days, and did it within a matter of literal hours in the very same day. I am floored by the service I received and I can honestly say that I think it is the best I've experienced in my lifetime.
Lori & Sam took a nerve-wracking obstacle and not only helped me through it with ease, but made it downright fun despite the circumstances of my visit. This store is a fantastic place to buy a suit, but it is clearly the people who make it what it is. I cannot thank them enough for helping me out and they can rest assured that I will go nowhere else for my tailoring needs going forward. Trust these folks; they are genuine, friendly people whose pride in their work and empathy for others shines through...
