I was concerned by the handful of one-star reviews, but decided to stop in here anyway to begin the tuxedo shopping for my wedding. I'm glad that I did, because this place is perfectly fine. Angie (?) took care of us, took the time to meet us and educate us on suits vs. tuxedo's, showed us the options, helped us to get our account set up, etc. Even told us which coupon to find in order to save a few bucks. Her and her team took our measurements, and I appreciated the fact that they were focused on us, not distracted or juggling other customers simultaneously. At that point I felt very comfortable that we were in good hands. Months later, picked up our tux's for the wedding, and they were all as expected, no issues. The other staff here are also very helpful and professional. Good experience overall.
I will say this though, and I don't think that this is particular to this location... I wasn't overly impressed with the fit of the tux. I actually don't think it was an issue with the measurements taken, because all of the lengths, waist, etc etc were fine for myself and all of my groomsmen, but I think this is just an inherent disadvantage of going with a run-of-the-mill, tailor-to-fit rental tux, that they're not fitted in the way that a custom suit would be. Jacket and pants seemed a bit wide through the body and legs for my taste, felt slightly baggy at times, you get the idea. The suit I have at home fits a lot better than the (Vera Wang) tux I rented here. Ultimately, I was satisfied with what I got for my wedding, but if I could do it again, I just might consider getting suits made for myself and my wedding party. Probably wouldn't even be much more expensive, because I think the tux's cost about $240 each for the rental.. Anyway, food for though for anyone...
Read moreOne of the workers said that they didn't think anything would fit me and the other one followed us asking if it was the first time I had ever even worn a suit before. I was extremely uncomfortable with that question, as I believe any man walking into a store with his wife would have worn a suit before.
One of them then brought me to the children's section, and said that the boys jackets wouldn't fit me but they didn't look to see how I actually looked in them, nor did they take any measurements.
They basically told us they couldn't help, recommended h&m (which didn't have suits might I add) and we left. I knew I was going to need alterations because I am a 5'4". They treated me like a child and dismissed me when I said I had looked up my size online on your website and said that wasn't going to fit, that I'd "Swim" in it, meanwhile after we left, we went to a different department store and they were able to get me an adult sized suit immediately and alter it in store with no issue, and the size I bought was the size I told them I would be. I would give this place a zero...
Read moreI've been doing business here for about 6 months and I have no complaints. I am treated like family and I get good deals which I consider "gestures of appreciation". Pete , a manager, always treats his customers including myself with utter respect. When he is busy, he checks in with me often, I patiently wait, maybe take a look at a few things, and when he is finished servicing another customer , he makes a seamless transition, picks up where we left off from a prior visit, and handles business very professionally. He's taught me a lot about the art of wearing a suit and I am greatly appreciative. He's recently informed me of a " suit drive " they hold in July for underprivileged men. I will be donating two suits this upcoming July. Donate a suit and you could receive a very decent and rational discount towards your next purchase. Bottom line , everyone wins in that situation. Thanks to all at Mens Wearhouse in Nanuet and a special thanks to Pete. See...
