What can I say...except that this is, officially, the queen of Indian stores! Or, more appropriately, the Maharani of Indian stores! 🤣
Clean, spacious, clearly marked prices, a huge variety, and decent prices. They also have a nice little "clearance" section, strategically located in the back corner (so that your cart is already half full by the time to get there) and irresistible for anyone that loves a good deal!
Fresh meats are a little pricey, and frozen fish is a hit or miss in terms of taste and freshness. Good variety of frozen naans, chappathis, etc. Great selection of heat and eat stuff. Fabulous selection of snacks - Indian and other international snacks. They also have an interesting selection of international grocery items, so you'll always see an international crowd there. Fresh vegetables and fruits are great, price is okay. They have stuff like dosa and idli batter, to make life easy. An insane variety of different rices! The red onion 10lb bag is a steal, BTW.
Easy access from either Central Avenue or Route 155. Parking? Meh. There is ample parking - I just don't like that parking lot, but my quirks are not the store's fault! 🤣
Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this store, whether you're Indian or not. In fact, if you're not Indian, I recommend that you go in just to entertain yourself and perhaps gain an understanding of the multidimensional country that is India. And while you're there, grab a snack from their delicious...
Read moreComplaint Regarding Poor Quality of Purchased Products
Dear Farmer's India Market Management,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention my recent unsatisfactory experience at your store located at 1814 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12205.
On my recent visit, I purchased a coconut that, unfortunately, turned out to be of poor quality. Upon opening it, I found that it was not fresh and was not suitable for consumption. This was quite disappointing, as I have always trusted your store for quality products.
Additionally, about 3-4 months ago, I purchased a packet of Haldiram’s Bhel Puri from your store, which also was not up to the expected standard. The product did not taste fresh and seemed to be stale.
Given these experiences, I am concerned about the quality control measures in place at your store. I request that you look into this matter seriously to ensure that other customers do not have similar experiences in the future.
I would appreciate it if you could respond to my complaint and let me know how you intend to address these issues. I believe that as a valued customer, it is important for the store to take immediate action to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to...
Read moreThis place is amazeballs. If you can't find whatever outside of the mainstream "ethnic" food you want here, it is just not available locally. I have so many different types of packaged foods (rice, spices, sauces, etc.) that I have been unable to find anywhere else locally - it's great.
What I love the most is the fresh produce I have been able to find here. I have a bunch of potatoes of all non-locally available varieties growing right now in my greenhouse because I was able to find such exotic tubers fresh for the picking. I wish there were some Peruvian and other South American varieties of potatoes, but I will take what I can get and go home a happy forager.
I must also admit that I LOVE all the packaged bits of exotic tucker which was available to me in the late 1970s when I was a student in London. All the biscuits, sauces, condiments, and mustards which I hadn't seen since I was still a teenager are readily available at Farmer's India Market.
Wish I could find the time to shop there more than once a month, but it's a hike for me. The meat dept. is also great. I always find something wonderful. I can spend well over 2 hours in this place, especially if I let my hubby, the foodie, come with. It's a MUCH cheaper trip if I...
