this is what I walk out with because the young lady in the fish department today decided she was going to project her negative energy on me. I asked her if she was working the fish and she rudely says yes and then looks away and I ask if she can grab some fish for me and she gives me an atitude as she asks me what size my tank is. I’ve been coming to this petco since I’ve moved to New York 3 years ago and have never had an issue. I know the big name pet stores ask you what size your tank is and etc, that’s not my issue. The manager here is extremely nice, and I also had a great experience with another young lady that works at this location but I barely see her at the fish department anymore. I got 5 different fish tanks I’m pretty knowledgeable on keeping fish, most likely more than the young lady that rudely asked my tank size. My issue is her atitude.. young lady if you don’t want to be at work which entails dealing with costumers who put money into your company’s account then find a job that doesn't have to do with dealing with other people. If you give someone an attitude all you can expect is for them to give it back to you. She must’ve not liked that i gave her the energy back so she filled my fishes bag with rocks and only gave me one fish, which I noticed when I got to the register And I walk back to ask why she only gave me one fish and she acted like I was crazy. So instead of causing a scene or sitting there waiting another 15 minutes for her to fill another bag with rocks then I proceeded to leave after telling her, her store would no longer receive my business , not like she would care or the petco corporation would care. I rather support local either way, The point is petco needs to train their employees on how to project positive energy to the customers because not everyone is going to react in a nice way if you give them an attitude...
Read moreI went to this Petco store to purchase some supplies for a QT tank I was setting up. The associate in the fish department was exceptionally rude and arrogant. I had already heard her tell off 3 customers before I even asked her a question. One couple was looking at bettas to get their kid started who was interested in the aquarium hobby. The associate told them a kid is not responsible enough to take care of fish and to look into purchasing something else. No questions were asked about the situation, age of kid, etc. and no mention made that betta is a great place for newbies to start. As I continued to forage for supplies, a gentleman mentioned to the attendant that a fish he had bought yesterday went belly up. The attendant said, "you probably killed it due to ammonia. What? Do you want another one?". No questions were asked about the setup, cleaning habits, age of tank, etc. and no information supplied to the customer regarding cycling tanks. When I couldn't locate the aquarium heaters, I asked the attendant where they were and she said, "I can help you later" as she continued to scowl at the poor man who lost his fish, most likely to the stress of distribution and relocation via the aquarium trade. Every word out of her mouth was in a bitter and offensive tone. I put my supplies back and walked out. Do yourself a favor and head to another pet store on Erie, i.e. Pet Smart, Pet Supplie Plus, Country Max. If you are interested in the aquarium hobby, take a short drive down Manlius Center Rd. and go to Fish Finatics. They are always helpful and informative. Oh, and they guarantee...
Read moreAfter having a bad experience at petsmart in dewitt we tried petco right down erie blvd. Although we did have to wait about 10-15 minutes (because they were busy which is great!) When we finally were helped Julien was AMAZING! We came into the store not knowing anything about guinea pigs and he helped us find everything we needed and then some! He was patient and answered all of my questions (he gave us his full attention for about 30 minutes) and even told us about his guinea pig Ava! We are so so thankful that this store has someone who is observant enough to see when a customer has been waiting and I consider myself patient but began to feel ignored. Julien was filled with knowledge and customer service excellence that is a must in the pet store world! Give him a raise because he is going above and beyond and has certainly won me over as a new Petco Customer! Also his line backed up at least three times while we were waiting for help and with each customer he was kind and patient but also time efficient considering we are in the city and you tend to get difficult or rude customers that is a rare find these days! Check out Petco on Erie Blvd for all your pet needs! Ps they keep their shelves stocked better than Petsmart and have a broader selection of just...
