Flipside was the first game store I ever frequented after getting more into board and card games about a decade ago. It wasn't until I started going to other local game stores in the area that I noticed just how absolutely amazing this store is. If you are in any reasonable kind of distance to this store, it should absolutely be your first choice every single time for any of your game and/or comic related hobbies.
Let me give you just two quick anecdotes about how and why Flipside EG is literally the greatest game store in all of existence:
I was playing a Draft MTG event a number of years ago when 2 grade-school sisters and their mom walked in. The girls told the owner they wanted to learn how to play MTG, so the dude stepped away from helping run the event to sit down with them and teach them how to play. He did such an awesome job that by the end of the event both girls were challenging other players that had been eliminated and getting through games pretty much no problem. The entire staff and all the players were extremely chill with the whole deal and it was honestly one of the most wholesome ordeals I've ever seen play out. Both the staff and the majority of players at the store are insanely friendly, helpful, and accepting, and I've never once witnessed a case of gatekeeping assholery take place during my time there.
I recently found out about a board game online I really wanted to try out, so I decided to call around to a few local game stores to see if they had it in stock. I called 3 or 4 stores before calling Flipside, and they all basically all just gave me a straight up "No", or didn't know what game I was talking about. When I called into Flipside, the staff member who answered did the following to try and help me, all in real time while I was on the phone with him: -Checked their stock -Checked the CP store's stock -Checked the stock with their distributor -Researched the game extensively and let me know it was a pretty hard to find and expensive game -Did more research and let me know they recently had a kickstarted for a 2nd printing that sold out immediately -Told me that my best bet was to hunt Ebay or wait for a third printing
Seriously, this has to be the greatest game store in area, and I would die on a hill to get these guys into some kind of national ranking. Please go here and support these...
Read moreI have some issues with this store. They claim to use TCGPlayer for their pricing however anytime I have bought singles they are signifactly more expensive. I recently bought a $0.33 card for $1 thats quite a mark up. The staff tends to be a bit rude as well. if you ask to look up a card you get tossed a peice of paper and told to write them down. I get it if your busy but when theres only 2-3 people in the store there's no real excuse to look up
Read moreHad a decent experience on my first night playing cards. The meta was stronger than I was told to expect, and I didn't have an individually great game experience, but you can't win them all. The community seemed pretty tight, though, and no one was unpleasant. Even for Halloween, it was pretty well attended by what appeared to be regulars. I'll go again and see how it goes. It was a significantly different and more inviting experience than my first time...
