Runnings — Local services in Town of Ellicott

I had a very bad experience because of this store manager. Please let me explain. Yesterday - I walked in with my usual smile and good energy 😄. I have been coming here since they opened and never had a problem. The workers were amazing to me , but yesterday will be my last day to ever to walk in there again because of that new store manager. I tried on 4 different sweaters . I even tried them outside the fitting room in front of other workers. I even told the one worker how I really like this place( while trying on a hoody) . That guy in the picture called the cops on me and 2 cop cars came to talk to me. The store manager in the picture was aggressive and very mean . I am very well liked and respected by State Police/Sheriffs and my church The cops came toward me and the one cop who was awesome and kind and caring told me they got a call on me that I was trying on multiple sweaters. ( Which is not a crime ) I told them- I was doing nothing wrong . I told officer Mike- that I'm a Christian person and a former Deputy Sheriff. I also shared my life to that cop. We had the best talk about God and I shared my experiences when I was a Deputy Sheriff. I told that Jamestown cop how the Lord used me ( to serve God ) while I was on patrol and my experiences were so awesome. The cops knew immediately that my intentions were to try on sweaters only. I put on a sweater and walked over to the fitting room and then returned in to the original spot . I repeated this process with other sweaters . Not a big deal. I told that store manager in front of the cops and several shoppers - that he was wrong for judging me and I told him and that lady- that I have a loving heart and I'm a very kind person and I would never steal ! They both said nothing. They never said they were sorry. That store manager is a very mean person and he seemed to have mental health issues . After that - I talked to another worker ( jevin) about all this - he was so kind. He was amazing and he felt terrible and told me he was so sorry. We also talked about God and my life because I wanted to tell him about me because the store manager told him to call the cops on me. I felt it was important to share my life to him. I told him that I have done the same thing for years - that i try on a sweater and I go to the fitting room and look to see if it's long because I'm short 😂 and then buy it or return it - That's it. It sounds normal to me . I'm doing this review for the following reason:

1- That store manager needs training

2- if a visitor who tries on clothes will get the cops called on them

3- that store manager needs prayers because he seemed confused and very mean and aggressive.

4- I will never go to this store again

5- to that other worker Jevin- you are a blessing to this world. You are a kind and smart person. I hope the store owner promotes you some day to the store manager because you deserve it. You understood that trying on sweaters is not a crime and we both talked about my life and how I was so happy to be in your store . God bless you for being a special person.

7- at the end - I was talking to both cops outside and we talked more about God and it's just a shame that 2 cops had to come here and they were so busy with real crime stuff But this is important to tell you all At the end of the day - it was another miracle because I made 2 cop friends for the rest of my life . The one cop is good friends with my best friend who is a retired Chautauqua County Deputy Sheriff. I connected so well with these 2 cops . We gave God the credit and the glory . I made a new friend with that elicot cop. ( 😁 ) I hope to have a pizza with him in the near future with my retired Sheriff buddy next week. We will have a good time. That elicot cop is also a Christian believer and how happy that made me . He was not ashamed to share his life about God . Runnings was the only store that had a drive belt that fit my old 1980s Honda riding mower, I searched store inventory online and called around to everyone within 50 miles from me and no one had the size I needed available. I thought I was going to have to order one online but then it hit me, Runnings might have it! I checked online and sure enough, 3 available! Luckily they're only 40 minutes from me but would of been much simpler to get it at the local tractor store or something but unfortunately everywhere only had an inch bigger and smaller from what I actually needed. I understand it's an old mower but I appreciate the fact that Runnings keeps it on their shelves!

Oh and I want to mention that they have belts near where the Mowers and other garden equipment is located but not a ton but they have another huge section of blue kevlar belts in the store more toward where automotive and trailer stuff is located. That's where I found mine, they have tons of sizes in...

!!!!SAVE YOUR RECEIPT!!!! I have done quite a bit of shopping at the store since they opened. I really liked the selection of products that they carry and the prices are decent. I have purchased everything from guns and ammo fishing gear and clothing. All told a few thousand dollars worth. Just last weekend they had some "novelty tactical items" on sale. I purchased a flameless electronic lighter that cost $8.00. It didnt work, it was DOA. I tried to exchange it for another today and was told NO, not without a receipt. I get it its store policy but it's really bad customer service. It really didnt sit well with me. Enough that I will not be shopping there anymore. It's not like it was a high dollar item that I used for a week then returned. It was a cheap Chinese electronic doodad that never worked...
