Irresponsible and rude. I believe in doing business in the local area, so when I had a few items of a really nice quality, I decided to go to the local consignment shop. I had never been in the shop before and was met as I stepped through the door, by the owner. I immediately felt a slight flippant attitude, as I spoke to her about taking my items on consignment, but I shrugged it off. She gave me her consignment contract and I left a pair of $200 menâs shoes that had only been worn once. My son had decided they didnât fit. The contract stated that I was to stop in to the shop by a certain date to either remove my items or collect the money. After that date, they would be donated. I stopped in one week before the date and they hadnât sold, but the owner asked me to leave the pair of shoes with her until September, because she was certain she would sell them because of the quality. One week before the date in September, I stopped by the shop and she looked through her records and told me they hadnât sold, so I went over to pick up the shoes and found that they were gone. When I asked the owner where the shoes were, she shrugged and said âwe mustâve donated themâ. I reminded her that we had had an agreement that I would pick up the shoes and they werenât to be donated. She looked at me, shrugged and said âsorry, not my fault, the help must have done itâ with that same flippant attitude. I own a business and I know that sometimes things happen that are out of your control. The money wasnât the issue, it was the attitude of the owner. I will never go back in the shop either to...
Read moreWould have purchased a few things, had the clerk not been so rude and pushy. I was commenting on how cute this one light fixture was to the person I was shopping with...no intent of buying it, just said "oh hey, that's super cute!" The woman at the counter inserted herself into our conversation and commented about how she did a price check and on the original value and pointed out the great shape it was in. I really had no interest in buying it at a glance of the price (also the fact that I have no need for a light fixture)...but was planning on purchasing two sets of shoes I had already found and was still looking around. I politely said I just don't have that kind of money, but the lamp is very nice. The woman scoffed at me for saying that I didn't have the money for the light and it was out of my price range..and she would not stop going on and on about how I'd never be able to find one like it cheaper. I had already politely said that it was too much for me. She scoffed again and then mumbled under her breath swearing as well. I decided to just leave and did not support her business. It's a shame I could not even just say "hey that's cute" and just move on with my shopping...I had to be interrupted and belittled...
Read moreAfter traveling 2 hours, I arrived at Holiday Valley for a wedding only to discover that I mistakenly brought a suit that fit me about 20 lbs ago. While the selection among men's clothes is spare, I was able to find two virtually new dress slacks that fit without alteration. The owner was helpful in determining which pair would go best with my jacket, shirt, and tie. She kindly steamed out the few wrinkles, and at a very reasonable price, I was soon on my way. In fact, I was ready before my wife and daughters....
