The entryway is heavily carpeted, water-damaged, and moldy. I’m experienced in detecting mold in buildings. Without that removed, the entire building is at risk. The floors as a whole were also in a sad state, clearly haven’t been mopped or vacuumed in ages. The produce section is nice. Gluten free sections pretty great though awkwardly organized and scattered randomly about. Many signs over cooler sections were missing or just plain mislabeled. The aisles are claustrophobic and the layout outdated. Baggers dump the maximum amount of groceries in one bag mindlessly without care for using the provided freezer bags, or watching for delicate items. The whole place is in serious need of a facelift, reorganization, and completely new floors in the tiled and carpeted areas. Cleaning staff should come through DAILY. This is a place that stores food. Daily maintenance is necessary to maintain the cleanliness of the building - therefore the air and the food - especially produce out in the open. Please look to the Niskayuna Hannaford to make the necessary adjustments in layout, construction, cleanliness, and training of your staff. A hannaford should not be worse than the local Walmart…
UPDATE: they have begun removing the flooring and replacing - however the NEW flooring in the produce area is CLEARLY not cleaned every night. Big black yucky marks are clearly evident. It is false wood paneling but doesn’t mean you can get away with not cleaning regularly!
There is also a pungent smell in the deli, seafood, and produce sections that is not present at say the hannaford on Consaul, or any other grocery store including the price chopper next door. For this review to improve, you need to ensure a pristine environment cleaned daily and customer service reps who look like they want to be there, and know...
Read moreUpdate to the previous review below. I still love Hannaford but I'm lowering it from five stars to four stars because, while they still carry my hard to find super coffee super creamer, they don't carry A2 brand milk anymore and for the longest time it was one of the only places I could find it. Now I'm forced to go to Walmart or Target to get the only cow's milk I can drink, and the only cow's milk you should drink if you happen to enjoy a cold glass. So yes, I'm reducing it from 5 stars to 4 stars. And still the below original review holds true.
I've been shopping at Price Chopper for several years now because of the gas discount. But now that discount is almost non-existent. So I thought I'd give Hannaford another try and was so happy I did. I've found items that I haven't been able to find at Price Chopper and even at better prices. I also like being able to scan my card off of my phone instead of having to carry around a key fob or another card in my wallet just to get discounts. It really was a much better shopping experience. Prices quality and selection...
Read moreI absolutely HATE THE TORTURE Hannaford and other grocery stores subject live lobsters to. It is tough to see them in the tank, packed and piled in, knowing they have already suffered capture, a long transport, and are now hostages awaiting being boiled to DEATH. I don't know why anyone would want to consume something that suffered so much?😥 It seems weird to fill the body with all of that negative energy. Besides making lobsters and clams endure pain, Hannaford is a decent market. They usually have what I need and most of what I want. I like most of the stores' layout. Having groceries, bakery, deli, pharmacy, and clearance area all in one store equals...
