Title: An Unfortunate Experience: A Critical Review of LA Fitness in Lawrence, NY
I recently had the opportunity to visit LA Fitness in Lawrence, NY, and I must say that my experience was far from satisfactory. As someone who values professionalism and expects a certain level of quality from a gym, I was deeply disappointed with the state of this establishment. Allow me to elucidate my grievances with utmost candor.
First and foremost, the maintenance of the gym's equipment left much to be desired. It seemed that the perpetual state of disrepair was a recurring theme throughout my time there. Broken machines were an all-too-common sight, leaving me with a dwindling selection of functional options for my workout routine. Whether it was the treadmills, cable machines, or those adjacent to the weightlifting area, I found myself frequently encountering equipment that was out of order. Such negligence on the part of the management reflects a blatant disregard for the well-being and satisfaction of their members.
Furthermore, I was appalled to discover that access to the area designated for calisthenics, equipped with a turf, sled, and other amenities, was consistently off-limits to general patrons. Apparently, this exclusive privilege was reserved solely for those fortunate enough to have engaged the services of a private trainer affiliated with the gym. This policy not only limits the diversity of workout options available to members but also perpetuates a sense of exclusion and favoritism within the facility. As a paying customer, I believe in equal opportunities and access for all, which this gym unfortunately fails to provide.
To exacerbate matters, the few functioning cable machines were woefully ill-equipped with attachments. It was disheartening to see the limited assortment of attachments available, and even more dismaying to find that the few available were noticeably damaged, deteriorated, or even torn. This glaring lack of attention to detail and upkeep is both disreputable and neglectful on the part of the gym's management.
In conclusion, my experience at LA Fitness in Lawrence, NY was nothing short of a disappointment. The perpetual state of disrepair, the unfair restrictions on certain areas, and the dire condition of available attachments for the cable machines all contributed to a profoundly subpar experience. As a prospective gym-goer, I would highly advise seeking alternative fitness establishments that prioritize the maintenance of their equipment and the equitable treatment of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLA Fitness is a really amazing gym, itās the customer service I was unsatisfied with. Becareful with Steve, heās one of the personal trainers in the Lawrence location. Steve is very rude and unprofessional, he will make sure he takes your money. Steve tied me to a 1 year personal training contract without PROPERLY briefing me on what I was signing. He also never printed me a copy of anything i signed when I signed up, he claimed he would email it to me and NEVER DID. Tried calling and texting him for clarification, NO ANSWER. Went to talk to him and he told me heāll be right with me and after and hour and a half wait turns out he āhad to go get his dog from daycare ā and couldnāt talk. He told me to call or text him . Texted him about the matter that Saturday, NO ANSWER. Thatās when I decided to go to the Garden city location that following Monday and ask the staff there for clarification because I was not satisfied with his Customer Service. I could barely get a hold of Steve!!! Thatās wen they told me there was a ONE YEAR contract on file. The manager made a call and they told him they will cancel it. When I signed up I specifically told him I was only in the area visiting family for approximately 2-3 months after completing my 7 year active duty contract. I emphasized that I didnāt want to be tied to any long term contracts and need to be able to cancel whenever I relocate. He reassured me this would be the case. The day after I talked to the Garden City staff (Tuesday) he checked me in to a personal training session that I never went to so it appears as if I had used the session. On Wednesday I was told by the Garden City Staff that I could no longer cancel because I had already āused a sessionā, which I didnāt. They were able to see in the system that I never went to that LA fitness location on the day he checked me in for a personal training session!!!! Thankfully, I was able to contact corporate and Cyn was able to issue me a full refund and cancel that contract after hearing the whole situation. Iām extremely thankful for the staff at the Garden City location for helping me resolve the matter in a tactful manner!!!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis LA Fitness location needs serious improvement. There arenāt enough employees keeping the facility clean and organized, and the ventilation is very poor. The equipment is packed too close together, many of the machines are broken or damaged, and overall, the gym feels dull and lifeless almost like being in a prison yard. The atmosphere is gray, uninviting, and lacks any real energy or motivation.
The pool area often doesnāt smell clean or fresh, and the crowd can sometimes be unpleasant. Thereās rarely any staff around to manage rude or inappropriate member behavior, which makes the experience uncomfortable. On top of that, there arenāt enough sanitizing supplies to properly wipe down the machines and the few that are available arenāt placed conveniently.
Even the small details show neglect. The light on the front sign has never worked since the gym opened, and several bench press machines are uneven or misaligned. Many of the instructional stickers and images on the equipment are missing, making it harder for members to know how to use them properly.
The bathrooms are often dirty, and the trash cans are frequently overflowing. Itās frustrating that management is quick to call if youāre late on a payment but doesnāt put the same effort into maintaining the gym or improving the member experience.
I go often because itās close to home, but when I compare it to my other home gym in Howard Beach, the difference is night and day. I work overnight and sometimes stop by the Howard Beach location in the morning itās spacious, well-ventilated, and the equipment is always in great condition. Unfortunately, this Rockaway Turnpike location makes LA Fitness as a brand look bad. It feels neglected, and itās clear the owners or management donāt care to keep it up...
