Island Bagel Bar Inc — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I've gone here enough times to finally write a review. This place has poor customer service & it isn't everyone. But the last time I went here I ordered a juice in a size large. When I asked the man if there was a larger size he seemed incredibly annoyed and responded "you ordered a large, thats a large. There's an extra large." My response to this was "I normally say large and am given the biggest size." He had the most unnecessary, condescending response "I'm not the normal person" I did tell him he was rude and I was just confused about the cups and wanted clarity. He felt the need to try and make me seem like the problem and told me to "have a better day". He's very miserable, confrontational and seems to not understand sarcasm and flippant responses have no place in customer service. After arguing with him at this point because unfortunately I became upset with the interaction- I requested a refund. He makes them look bad and unprofessional. I don't know if it's a racial thing as I am Black and he's Latin ... and I've witnessed more pleasant responses and much friendlier interactions to people who appear to be Hispanic. He might not be a morning person as it was 630am However I don't care why he behaved that way. It's a poor reflection of their business. Unwarranted and undeserving; he doesn't need to work there or with people and I will never spend my money...

I drove my friend to the airport super early in the morning. The night before I was hanging out with my boyfriend who is her housemate. So I stayed at his house napping on the couch while he watched TV until it was time for her early morning airport drive. After I got her to airport I had to go to work 9 to 1. So I opted for a gym shower at planet fitness instead of going home. I stopped at Island Bagel Bar for breakfast and lunch and coffee before going to work after my gym shower.

The service was great, the atmosphere was your standard bagel place.

I found the food to be just okay. Not great but not bad either. I had a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast, a coffee with french vanilla creamer and tuna on a roll for lunch. They also gave me a bag of chips that was included in my tuna.

Overall this is a decent bagel place to stop in for food. The price wasn't bad. $17 and change for breakfast, lunch and a coffee in this economy isn't...

I try my best to give them the benefits of a doubt but it’s literal robbery. They’re skimping on eggs each order depending who makes the order. Yesterday I came in and a nice gentleman made my order perfectly. Today I come in and the guy who has to make my order I told him exactly how i ordered the day before and he messes up. I remind him please fried eggs not scrambled. He then continues to put one egg on the gril but they’re charging me for two on the order. I spoke to who looked like the manager and was told they’re making another egg to satisfy my request, just to stand there waiting for nothing. They both walked off and me aggravated walked out when one woman behind the counter asked what I was waiting for. Unprofessional and why give attitudes when I’m paying for everything I want I’m not asking for...
