Rainbow Shops — Local services in Town of Hempstead

DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE!!!!! I normally do not shop at Rainbow, but stopped in looking for a last minute bikini bottom for a trip to Miami. I walked in and asked if they have bikinis and was told no. I needed a push up bra anyway so I continued shopping. I spent 30 minutes quietly going thru their merchandise spending most of my time by the register where the underwear and glasses were. I picked up things, put back things, and continued to shop like normal.The manager even gave me a back up bikini option which actually was underwear. I passed. Finally, I made my selections and walked up to the register to pay for my items. The same manager that gave me the horrible, tacky suggestion then proceeded to ask me “ Where were the glasses that you tried on earlier”. You can just imagine my horror and embarrassment. First of all, here I thought that she as being helpful, but she actually was following me around the store because she felt I was going to steal. After asking her what she meant (I had actually forgotten about the glasses and must have put them down by mistake during the time I was shopping) she said you had the glasses and now you don’t. She then went on to ask her security to search my purse!!! This has never happened to me before so you can imagine my horror. I opened my purse for him to see and obviously the glasses were not in there because I’m NOT A THEIF! I asked her if it’s store policy that everything you pick up must be bought. I asked her if she searched or followed anyone else around . She said people steal all the time and she watches everyone. You do not treat paying customers this way! Please be sure to actually SEE someone stealing before accusing them . Imagine I’m there at the register to PAY for my items and I’m accused by the manager of stealing. She had already made up her mind when I walked in that I was going to steal. Shopping while black is not a crime! She never apologized even though she was obviously mistaken and to find out she was actually a MANAGER made it even worst. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE! They have these stores in our neighborhoods and treat us like criminals when we come to spend our money. I’m not saying no one steals, I just feel you should have more to go on besides a hunch before accusing. At least apologize for a mistake. I was horrified and embarrassed. Rainbow you need to do better with your customer service. Just because the clothes are cheap doesn’t give you the right to treat your customers like criminals!! I'm not a big fan of Rainbow Shops in general but if I'm out shopping and near a Rainbow I'll stop in and look around. The store has lots of sales and low prices but mostly not high quality clothes. No big deal..but this particular location is one that I've learned to avoid at all costs. It's big, disorganized , always very crowded and chaotic. On top of that it's ridiculously hard to find sales help probably because they're tending to the disorganized mess and customers were making 4 out of 6 times I was at this location. Clothes, shoes and other merchandise gets thrown all over the floor and in the wrong areas throughout the place. The one time I was in the shoe section there were random single shoes and entire shoe boxes on the floor and chairs and when I found a shoe I wanted to try on there was an empty cheese doodle bag stuffed in the shoe. That actually had me laughing but it's not fair to retail employees having to clean all that up. Won't...

Went in to do an exchange for an item purchased the day before. The return policy on the receipt says that I have 7 days from date of purchase to return. The cashier would not grant me the return. She sad she can not do the return due to covid-19. I said what your saying goes against the stores return policy. She said sorry I can’t. I said what about store credit, she said no. What’s she was saying didn’t seem to add up since it went against the stores return policy, so I left and went to another location.
