The UPS Store — Local services in Town of Manlius

I cannot express my gratitude enough for the amazing team at this store. This is simply the best team, going way above and beyond in customer service.

I walked in 5 minutes before the store was supposed to close on a Wednesday evening, with an urgent/time sensitive delivery item (tradeshow booth). I thought it was going to be a simple delivery - but it wasn’t. Because the size of the items and the warehouse they were being shipped to, they couldn’t guarantee a delivery by the end of day Friday - even if it was sent overnight. The truck had already left for the night - so while the expected delivery was Friday, the system couldn’t guarantee it 1) Because there was no time cushion, and 2) It was being delivered to a warehouse instead of a residential address. They sprung into action. They called their driver, asked if he could make a special trip back to the store, and told me that even if he couldn’t, they would personally drive it to their hub that night. On top of that, the hard cases for the booths weren’t going to work (they were poorly designed), so they had to stuff the three soft shell cases into boxes - all within 15 minutes so the driver would do the pickup. In the end, we made it - the driver came back, the boxes were picked up, and my heart attack subsided.

I was visiting upstate New York last week and wanted to ship an antique radio that belonged to my Grandfather probably close to 100 years ago to my permanent residence in Florida. I actually contacted the UPS store in Manlius ahead of my trip to ask if they did such a thing and was told over the phone that they did, and was given an approximate price. We brought the radio in and was promptly greeted by a very helpful employee by the name of Vicki. She took all the measurements, consulted with some co-workers on best way to properly ship. The owner Parul was all so on hand to consult. The price that I was quoted initially actually was a little bit higher so I was very pleased with the final pricing. I received the radio within about 5 days and it was in perfect condition and they took such good care to wrap it and put it in an appropriate box so that nothing would get damaged. Basically need to use UPS store to receive packages when I am in Syracuse area two days a week. Was told today that packages will only be held for 3 days. If a package is delivered on Thursday afternoon, when I am in town, but I don't get notification or can't get to the store before it closes (which is hard to do), I am not in the area again until Tuesday. That's more than 3 days. Go on vacation? SOL, I guess. So, for me, this place is now pretty much completely worthless for what I need. Even UPS Customer Centers hold packages for 5 days, and there was never any notification ahead of time that this is "the rule" at this store.
