During the early hours 2/11/2020 i was doing my annual "last minute" Valentines day shopping for my lady and decided to get her the absolute best bottle of wine that she MORE than deserves. I had just moved to New Hartford at the end of January and have been a long time customer of a really great store in South Utica, but it is really out of my way considering I both live and work right here in New Hartford. I decided to call Seneca Wine and Liquor after seeing they stocked a particular wine via their website (opus one 2016) to see if they would honor their competitors 20% off 6 bottle of wine coupon and also proceeded to tell them what it was that I was looking for to confirm stock. I believe it was a gentleman named Dan that I spoke with who told me the Opus One was on sale and they couldn't mark it down any further... it was the exact same price as their competitor in South Utica ($339.99) and nowhere on their website did it show it being marked down? Since I am really not much of the arguing type I decided to just let it go and head back down to my old neighborhood store and purchase the bottle with the coupon and be done with it all...UNTIL I decided to go through my receipts from January and found the one where i purchased this exact same bottle (on 1/23/2020 for her birthday) and got the 6 bottle discount from the other store. On average I drive by the sign on Seneca turnpike that states " 40 mile price match" twice daily, which made me decide to just swing into Seneca one last time to give them a shot and show them my 1/23/20 receipt.... that attempt was unsuccessful and I was mocked by a gentleman named Dan who told me that if the other store was selling it for that then he would go down and buy it all up... I walked into a store with the intention of spending $300+ and walked out empty handed with a bad taste in my mouth. While this entire story seems completely negative, there actually was a happy ending. I headed back down to my favorite store where I bought not 1 but 2 bottles of Opus One and 4 other bottles while getting the advertised discount...

She wouldn't accept that either, understandable. She asked if I had a passport, which I do, but at home. So I called my husband who told me to use my military ID, since it's a government issued ID and not expired. BUT! the lady denied that too, and then asked why my husband wouldn't just come in to buy the bottle himself. (Uh, he's at work and I'm trying to get the errands finished now.) Her face was full of rude expressions. I might have been a hassle with my drivers license, but I'm 38, clearly over 21yrs of age and DID have a valid ID, so I'm not sure why this was turned into such a big deal with her. I went to Bremers instead and definitely recommend them over this Seneca place !
Edited to reply back to the owners response: Watch the video again. I showed one form of ID, ran to the vehicle to bring in the paper confirmation of renewal and even stated in my review that itâs understandable that wasnât accepted. However, the ONLY other ID I showed was my military ID when I came back in, and itâs laughable that you say itâs worn out because it is in perfect condition with nothing worn down, faded or blurred and it IS a proper ID. Itâs not on me that yall donât know how to identify other forms of ID. And why would I ever want to go back to your location - As stated Bremers is...
