Sangertown square really needs some attention to detail. The exterior of the property could use some updating. The parking spaces are always clustered around the anchor stores and it’s not easy to find a spot without having to hike to the few entrances. If you look at the parking lots, you can see where a ton of space is wasted and the flow of traffic makes no sense. The result is cars standing in the fire lanes, and cars circling around aimlessly.
Inside, the mall feels empty and dark. Many stores are vacant, the lighting is very dim, and the whole place needs a deep detailed cleaning. Dust is everywhere once you get above shoulder height. The obvious items are taken care of - floors and trash cans, but there is a lot of room to improve.
The food court is severely lacking. There is 4 food choices on a good day. I’d recommend the pizza joint it has a large cheese and 4 fountain drinks for $20, which is the best value you will find. The Chinese place has raised prices to the roof, their small combo is now $8? For lukewarm food sitting under a heat lamp. And Subway… a rip off at $10 for a sandwich. Plan on spending $50 for 4 people to eat lunch.
The restrooms are dark and dingy, they never have toilet paper or paper towels in stock. Instead of actually sanitizing they just get a quick wipe down and that’s the end of it.
There really isn’t much to recommend here anymore. Some new retailers with better prices might help, as would some fresh food offerings. The stores within the mall all could use some deep cleaning and...
Read moreSangertown has seen better days. However it was clean, safe, and had a pleasant atmosphere whenever I go to waste time there.
Besides the four anchor stores (JCPenny, Sears, Target, and Macy's), Sangertown mostly consists of clothing and jewelry stores, although they did add a Dick's Sporting Goods.
The clothing and accessory options are varied but you will find very little in entertainment and dining. Those facilities were replaced with the previously mentioned clothing and jewelry stores, or the occasional salon. The cinema is gone, so too are the McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Friendly's, and Ruby Tuesday. All that's left of the food court is a Subway, the Auntie Anne's, the Sicilian Delight, Mr. Smoothie, Fratelli's Cafe, and the Cajun Cafe and Flaming Wok (The menu's of which are mostly the same, just switch the Chinese restaurant name for a dish with a Cajun sounding one.). Your choices are subs, pizza, coffee, smoothies, and Chinese food(or Chinese food with Cajun names).
Sangertown is a good time waster if you're not into replacing your wardrobe every other week. It's a wonderful indoor venue for fitness walking, the air conditioning works well and the sun is no longer an issue.
Otherwise head to Shoppingtown or Carousel mall in Syracuse if you're into the whole dinner and...
Read moreI love this mall but I think the mall needs more food options, entertainment and stronger tenants as a whole. It used to have so much for food back in the 90s and early 2000’s.It Had McDonald’s , Arby’s , Friendly’s and much more. It had an arcade and a cinema. I think they’re moving in the right direction by adding PINZ (bowling alley). I don’t think malls are “dead” I think they just need to adapt but at the same time not forget the bread and butter that makes a mall…well a mall. This mall reminds me a lot of the positives that shoppingtown had. It’s not overwhelming / easy to navigate and has a positive vibe to it. But I’m worried it may have a similar problem. Not replacing anchor stores. It’s missing 2. It had JC penny and Macys in these now vacant spaces. I hope the owner of this doesn’t pull a moonbeam and just let the property waste away (which I don’t think they are considering they added PINZ). I hope they keep improving the mall by keeping it clean and bringing in tenants that can make draw some traffic to the mall. At the end of the day despite it missing some things it still provides a nice shopping experience. It’s got a lot of the mall store names you know, just not as much as you may be familiar with. Good luck...
