I was really looking forward to visiting the Van Cleef & Arpels Manhasset boutique to purchase my first necklace, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing.
When my friend and I entered, no one greeted us or offered assistance. Instead, the staff just stared as we browsed. Eventually, I asked to try on a necklace and was told to stand by the door to look in a mirror, under harsh lighting that made it difficult to see how the piece actually looked. There was no guidance, feedback, or warmth from the two associates standing behind me in silence.
When I went back to the counter to compare another option, I was told again to move back toward the door because there was âa clientâ at the counter â which made me feel like my presence wasnât valued. To make matters worse, while my friend was trying on a bracelet, I overheard a staff member comment in Chinese that she couldnât go to the restroom because she had to make sure we didnât steal. As someone who speaks and understands Chinese, this was extremely offensive and unprofessional.
In the end, I chose not to purchase anything because the overall environment felt unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Ironically, when I later tried the same necklace in a different setting, I realized I loved it â but the experience at this boutique left such a negative impression that I couldnât bring myself to buy it here.
I truly hope the staff receives better training on hospitality and inclusivity. Luxury retail should make every guest feel respected and valued, regardless of appearance...

I recently visited this location and, unfortunately, found the experience to be lacking compared to other locations Iâve visited, such as the boutiques in Cannes, France, and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
In both Cannes and Manhattan, the associates go above and beyondâthey are kind, responsive, and professional, making you feel warmly welcomed and cared for. Unfortunately, this location fell short in those areas. While the staff was polite when I first entered, they didnât create the same inviting or warm atmosphere that Iâve experienced elsewhere.
What stood out most was their lack of responsiveness. I had to call multiple times to inquire about the status of my order, and even then, it was incredibly difficult to get through. The phone often went unanswered, which felt like a lack of respect for my time.
Von Cleef & Arpelsâ products remain stunning and consistent worldwide, but what sets each boutique apart is the level of customer service. This location, while sufficient, simply doesnât measure up to the exceptional service and care Iâve received at...
Read moreI was very excited to purchase my 5 motif onyx bracelet until I realized the waitlist after I already paid in full. I was suppose to get 2 phone calls - 1st when the bracelet arrived and ready to be sent for adjustment AND 2nd when the bracelet is ready for pickup. I didnât get my first phone call. I ended up calling them to check the status of my bracelet. I received the second phone call but the message was in Chinese. I had to get it Google Translated. My whole purchase conversation was in English by the way. I went into the store to pick-up my bracelet. I mentioned to them that I happened to receive a phone call in Chinese. The lady at the front desk got my nerves to say, âIts probably the nameâ. What a racist comment! For a store that sells such luxury brand have such professionalism! I will NEVER shop at this store again. You would expect great service when you walk in and out of the store spending $6K on a single item. NOT! And I was going to go pick-up my item and purchase the Malachite Vintage Alhambra as well as the Agate Vintage Pendant....
