Long Island Drum Center — Local services in Town of Orangetown

I discovered this place strolling through Nyack awhile back. Fast forward 2 years later - my son had an issue with a piece of drum hardware and needed it fixed immediately. I thought of this place...he was closing up, but said he would wait for us to come by. We are 20 minutes away - he said no problem; Frank the owner not only kept his store open waiting, but then proceeded to spend 30 minutes fixing the hardware. We ended up then trading in the repaired hardware for a reasonably priced and better quality piece (that has been a solid upgrade). Since that day, I've returned regularly for supplies, trade-ins, and some hardware. Prices are the same or lower priced than Guitar Center or online places. And, you get to support a local business with a great owner who runs a great little and unique little shop. I recently had an issue with something - and again - he kept the shop open and stopped a lesson so he could assist us. Where else are you going to get that kind of service? Try that at Guitar Center. ...

Frank is a reaaaalllllyyyyy great guy. He went above and beyond to help me work a full kit into a pre-defined budget I had before I even got into the store. I even ended up with my first choice in she'll pack. The kits cymbals and hardware he keeps in stock are fantastic for any drummer of any experience level and the prices are extremely reasonable. On top of the level of service provided, this shop also offers lessons and the kids and parents I saw coming and going all seemed extremely satisfied with the level of care provided. Was recently on vacation in Nyack and had to stop in to the shop. Overall the experience was good and I wish I had the money to buy one of the snare drums I had my eye on but money was tight and the wife would have killed me. I liked the old school ambiance of the place and the owner was pretty friendly and willing to help me out. My only complaint is he was 40 minutes late opening up and when I went to buy something as a momento for $4, he said he had a $10 minimum.
