Before Christmas, I made a purchase and had a very specific conversation with the woman working about the policy, especially because there was an additional holiday return policy. I specifically asked if I would still be able to return as normal if had my receipt and was within the 14 days, and I was told yes, I would get a full refund if I still had my receipt within the 14 days.
I just tried to return my purchase, within 14 days with my receipt as I was told.
When I went into the store, the employee working was having trouble opening the cash register for the day so I had time to browse the entirety of the store. After the employee figured the cash drawer out, she told me she wasn’t going to be able to let me return the item at all and I could only exchange in that moment. Seeing as there was nothing in the store I was interested in, I asked if I could have a gift card, but that is not an option either. So I could throw my money out the door, or walk out with an item I had no interest in having.
Speaking with the owner, I explained the situation and she said that her employees have worked there for years and they would never say anything like the previous mentioned conversation.
I’m fine with being told that there was a miscommunication, especially if the owner is willing to work with their customers (which seeing reviews there is a history of the owner being hard to work with).
Once the owner said to me that “words were being twisted” she lost my business and any respect as a business owner. Under no circumstance should an owner of a business either allude to the fact that her staff is twisting the words of their return policy, or that the customer she is speaking to is somehow twisting words. In either case it looks extremely unprofessional. Take accountability for your staff...

The owner and her associates have been super friendly every time we have gone there. This is saying a lot in today's world-- and in OP in particular, where the atmosphere is icy in some shops even if you have money to spend there.
Prices are about what you would expect for a shop. They have great deals and clearance though--especially since they don't let stock sit around for ages. Fashion cash and bonus points add up and make for sweet deals. I also enjoy the teacher discount.
They also have been very nice to my family, including my husband, and he always has the offer of a place to sit. (Most other women's boutiques we go in just ignore him because he obviously isn't buying anything...
Read moreNever shopping here again! Horrible owner!!!! I witnessed the owner speak condescendingly and rudely to a young teacher that was trying to get a $2 discount on a shirt that she liked. From what I could understand the young woman came to the store with her teacher ID from her school that did not say the word “teacher”, but said that she was a “primary school substitute” at the school she worked at. The owner was extraordinarily condescending and said that they only gave discounts to “real” teachers and because it didn’t say the word teacher on it, she refused to give her the discount. She said that the girl looked more like she could be a substitute janitor!!!!!! What a horrible woman. My friend and I dropped the $70 of clothes we were going to buy and will never be...
