Seems like they're building a butcher station in the back (like how Maharaja does it). Can't wait to see the end result. Fairly good store; good prices. I generally wouldn't get things like dragonfruit there bc I can get fresher dragonfruit in Flushing but their produce section seems nice. I think they have an "organic" section where you can get organic haldi (powdered turmeric) and the like which is nice for those who want it. They were the first place I found that kept Himalayan pink salt at a reasonable price. I like their oil section because they have oils like pistachio oil, macadamia oil, roasted hazelnut oil, etc--all good for hair! I think this location started keeping organic virgin nonrefined coconut oil to compete with Patel Bros. Patel Bros definitely has it, I didn't look too closely here as I have enough coconut oil bit I definitely saw organic coconut oil--whether it was virgin and unrefined, I can't tell you. It'd be nice if they did because I wouldn't need to make a separate trip to Patel Bros for just one thing. Fairly happy woth Apna Bazaar. I've been told that Patel Bros has better quality daal (lentils) and their dairy lasts longer than Apna Bazaar's. I haven't had any trouble with Apna Bazaar's milk before (though I haven't bought it from here recently; I pick it up a bit closer to home now). I usually don't buy daal so I can't greatly comment on that either..just thought it should be mentioned as a precaution. Their spice section includes things like fish sauce and various curry sauces (Thai red curry; Green curry; etc). The Thai red curry is pretty good (though I don't follow tje instructions on the back, I doctor it by cooking the veggies and chicken, adding some of the sauce instead of the whole thing, add extra red chili powder and coconut milk). Haven't tried the green curry powder.
Only thing I'd really like to see--a weighing machine/scale to weigh...

Read moreThe store itself is reasonably good and I have nothing to say. But the halal meat inside the store and the man on the counter should not be serving to the community anymore! Period! On 15th NOV 2022 between 4-5 pm in the afternoon, I was there to buy some chicken legs and I was with my 2 and half year daughter. I was waiting long time over the line and and holding items on my hands and the man in the counter intentionally ignored me and served other person who even asked him to serve me as I was on line first. However, In his language he told the man “ these people can wait longer’ I totally understand HIndi and his actions towards me. I found him a very disrespectful, resist, and morally irresponsible toward customers and their Native backgrounds. I left the shop without buying anything with my child and I will never return to Apna Bazar again and also ask my community not to go and buy anything from that halal shop. Unless the management take this review seriously and see the record on the store camera if needed. They should not let that man from halal meat shop working inside the Apna Bazar! Please...
