Winter Sun & Summer Moon — Local services in Town of Rhinebeck

Visited this shop with my friend recently. We come here every so often since she enjoys browsing the Mexican artwork, especially the collection of skeleton lover dioramas that are able to be opened and closed. Note she is a dark-skinned Mexican woman while I am the palest Irishman you'll meet.

While browsing the bags (which she was thinking about buying), we noticed one of the workers watching us from behind the counter. Not thinking anything of it, we moved over to the right section of the store through the little walkway when we observed that same worker whisper to her co-worker. The same worker then followed us to the other side, looked at us, and then turned slightly to face the bags on the wall, presumably pretending to rearrange them while watching us from the corner of her eye. The store had other patrons roaming around, but we didn't notice other employees tailing them. Before I was able to say anything, my friend said, "Let's go," and we left.

This incident left her upset especially since she was contemplating buying a bag. Unfortunately, she had purchased a mirror from this store for her mother a few months back. A business profiting off of Mexican and Buddhist craftsmanship. Just a more bougie Traveling Buddha for the wealthy citizens...

Nice shop which I was really looking forward to returning to since making purchases there three years ago when I was last in Rhinebeck. However, this time the staff person, possibly the owner, who took my sale was not only unfriendly but also reluctant to wrap my purchases despite all the colorful tissue paper and curling ribbons behind the register. A friend who was with me had a much more pleasant check-out experience with a lovely sales person who beautifully and willing wrapped her items which were gifts, like mine were. So shoppers, since the gift wrapping is free and likely you are visitors buying presents, ask for gift wrapping even if the sales person...

OMG, I love this store. I've been shopping here for years. They have a lovely staff, many of whom have worked there for a long time (it's always nicer to see a familiar face). An eclectic collection of beautiful clothes, jewelry, home items, incense, skin care and shoes. The buyers have a great eye and they keep the store always looking lovely...
