We had my daughter's bridal shower at Blue Blind mansion/Elks club in Smithtown on 9/14/24. Husk & Vine Restaurant & Catering in St James, NY does exclusive catering for this venue. Maria/owner held my hand from Start to finish! She assured me from our very first meeting that this would be an amazing event for my daughter and she did not lie! We hit it off immediately! Maria knew how important it was for me to throw an amazing bridal shower for my only daughter and she and her staff certainly made it happen and than some! She even helped me decorate the day before! The garden room was fabulous. The food was abundant and delicious. They even made gluten-free options for some of my guests! The staff was suburb and right on top of everything! This event was a Saturday 12:30 brunch held in BB Mansion green room & Bar area. (We had 39 people) There was an omelette station w/Chef, parfait station w/Yogurt, granola, huge bowl of strawberries and blueberries. Bakery station: there were assorted muffins, bagels and pastries. Then there were chafing dishes: I choose to have delicious chicken francese, eggplant rollatini, penne Ala vodka and burnt Brussels sprouts (That was to die for!) The beautiful cake from Whisk bakery in Commack was decorated to match our theme & was delicious. Everything was above and beyond what I could have expected. We brought in Tammy from Mysucculentshop.com (find her fabulous service on Instagram) to do a succulent bar and Maria happily accommodated her every need. (Note: wooden tags from inside succulents were beautiful and from NateyandBode.com). Maria's staff even helped me pack up all my stuff and bring it to my car! Doug, you are the greatest! You have an Eagle eye for detail!! Mike the bartender, Chef and Evan the waiter were wonderful also! If you are having a small or large event, You MUST check out this venue. You will not be disappointed! I am very hard to please, and I am extremely happy with what I received for my daughter and my guests! Let me mention that they do have a large piece of property with a Tent with a concrete floor underneath, a Large brick barbecue and picnic tables outside if you're looking to have a picnic, reunion or any kind of outside event. This place has it all! What a gem!!!! Also let me mention that Husk & Vine Catering beat any price of any other venue that I went to! I got the most bang from my buck here! I was so very happy because budget was tight!!!!! The amazing balloon arch was done by Christina Spano at pump'd up events Kings Park NY (You can find her on Facebook, that's where I found her) Another gem! I hope the pictures help. I did a lot of research before I decided on a venue & went on other people's recommendations and reviews as well. Their pictures helped me a lot! Andrea C - A very happy client! Husk & Vine Restaurant & Catering = Master Class! p.s. Also eat at Husk & Vine restaurant in St James NY! Delicious food & they have a private room...
Read moreWent out to Nesconset to visit a friend and we started looking for places to eat. Was looking for small plates or shareable items. Found tgis place and called, and they had outdoor seating! Made a reservation for 5pm, and set out to see this place. This place is not easily recognizable from the road. We passed it 2x. Should have seen the big tent instead placed in the front parking lot. Ingenious! They also have parking in the rear. I parked in the center aisle and one of the restaurant peeps in the back had me move the car towards the front fence. I did not realize why until later leaving. They have live music in the back parking lot where people can bring their own tables and chairs and have a BBQ with the restaurant!! Again, the creativity was there. We checked in the frint and the young lady asked if we had a reservation. The whole space was practically empty at that time. By the time we left after dinner, the place was packed!! Marie, our waitress was incredibly welcoming and and such positive attitude we both hit it off with her immediately! The menu is extensive and varied. They actually have several items with are foodie favorites, i believe in a magazine. I chose the disco fries to see if they met with approval. They were thick cut potatoes, with seasoning, cheese and a dippabke sauce. Yes, I got into it. I also ordered the naked and afraid dry rubbed wings which were plentiful in size. The were good. Only thing missing for me was a little hit pepper kick. How could I forget the Moscow mule that did not last long in the setting sun. I thought it may have been the sun evaporating it, or my mouth kept sipping on it. Could have used a bit more vodka tho. One of the wait staff who served us was Marcus. I thought I got along with Marie, it was even more with Marcus. What a fantastic dude! He really represents the restaurant well. He talked about various items on the menu and definitely invited us to return to try more! Between the 2 of them, I would certainly not hesitate to return. I ordered the skirt steak which came with crispy Brussels sprouts which I love and a baked potato. It was a nice sized portion. I also ordered my Guiness since they had it on tap! For the finale, they had a peanut butter cheesecake that was to die for. There was alot of peanut butter and chocolate on top that came with a light and extremely fluffy cheesecake under it. It was my most desirable item!! Listen, it is a great place to dine, and the friendliness of the staff will have you returning here...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem! Small location, but pleasant. Then, you taste the food and you realize an experience is about to go down. The specials of the day are great: Wednesday's special: buy a bottle of wine, receive a complimentary charcuterie platter. Oh lawd, this display of cheese and meats was amazing. The blue cheese was the best I've had. The brie coupled with local honeycomb? Don't mind if I do. Marinade thin pickles were delicious on their own but really enhance the flavors when paired with gruyere and any of the three meats. All phenomenal quality, taste and texture were off the charts. The chef also has a brilliantly creative mind when it comes to food, 'outside the box' thinking in terms of marrying flavors. Also, I love how the menu changes every week and there is something for everyone. *Cotton candy wings- some of the best wings I've had. Juicy and not dry, perfectly textured marinade served with cotton candy on top. The marinade has a light spice to it, then as the cotton candy slightly melts on the wings, what you taste is brilliance; angels dancing on your tongue. *The truffle - parmesan steak frites were fresh, perfectly fried with no shortage of large parmesan shavings. Delicious. Dessert was also divine: *Peanut butter chocolate cheesecake was apparently wonderful and rich, according to my friend that ordered it. She mentioned it was perfect for those with slightly less of a 'sweet tooth', like her. *Donut with raspberry sauce and a vanilla glaze topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of the raspberry...I was ready to explode from dinner, but managed to fit every last bite of that gem. Satisfies the 'sweet tooth'! The staff were wonderful: *James was the best server! Incredibly personable, we felt like we knew him for years by the end of the night. Judging by other tables that were happy to see him, this seems to be how he is in general, and it's fabulous. He went the extra mile if there was a question about a dish or wine. James also brought wine tastings so we could buy a bottle with confidence. He is also a foodie, so he explains everything incredibly well and in detail. At the end, he brought over some shots for the table- the perfect finé to a great all around experience. I highly recommend this little gem on Middle Country Road. Compliments to the chef (including pastry chef), and staff. Thanks for the...
