Fresh Catch Seafood — Restaurant in Town of Smithtown

I wish I would’ve found this place sooner. I’m always looking for delish food and all types! Seafood is one of my favs. I did a search on the best seafood in area and came across this place. Unfortunately it was 4:59 on a Sunday when I realized this and they close at 5. Anyway, I decided to call probably after 5 at this point. Noone answered which was expected, and then called again bc I wanted to make sure I got the hours down they inform you on the vm so I could come another day. Well a couple minutes later I believe his name was Ryan.. (I have a terrible memory so I hope I’m getting his name right) literally called me back to see what I was looking for. I was so surprised I had a list of stuff I wanted to try and just told him I wanted soup. He literally waited for me to get there at 5:20 just to sell me soup. Which btw I’m dieing to try!!! I cannot believe the amazing customer service provided just for soup!!! I cannot wait to go back when they are open I want to try many things!!!! So very nice and professional!!! Idk why it took me so long to find this place!!! But now that I know the place and the amazing staff I will definitely be returning and referring others to this place!!! I have been following Ryan's journey, from my home in Merrick, for the past 2 years or more with fascination at his tenacity to overcome obstacles and watch him build his fish trailer. On 1/16/21 Ryan posted that it was the last day for Peconic bay scallops. Knowing just how rare it is to have these delicacies, I picked up the phone and placed my first order. Since I was going all the way to St. James from Merrick, it was a pretty big order - Clams on the half (perfection), Oysters on the half (OMG-amazing), Seafood Bisque (SO SO good - no clumps of flour/corn starch but HUGE chunks of lobster, shrimp and crab! Better than any fancy restaurant - seriously!) The bay scallops were absolute perfection - I have big hopes for the 2022 season making a come-back! I froze the following: clam sauce, Montauk Cod, some of the bay scallops, sea scallops, and will have great meals through January. See you in February, Ryan! So great! They have a fantastic set-up and the service is top notch. He spent time going over with me what I needed and when he found out I never made scallops before he demonstrated how to remove the muscle part and explained why you remove it. He went over serving size with me and when weighing he stayed on the lower side when he could have given me more. Not there to sell more than needed! I also grabbed some of their baked clams.. which are Huge and he told me how to cook them 😁 Price reflective of the freshness and locality. My scallops were dry, none of that chemical, and from Shinnecock. I knew I wasn't paying a discount store rate because this is premium quality and while the price reflects that, it's not over-priced.
