I'm not one to usually go online and complain, but in this case, I feel like I have to, and I was shocked because I have been to UBreakiFix locations before that have been great. I brought in an Xbox Series X controller, a special edition that was valued over $100, to be repaired for drift, where the joystick pulls in one direction. They were very nice and said they didn't know if they could fix it, they wouldn't charge me if they couldn't, but they would try and it would take around two weeks, since it was around the holidays and would call me. There was also a small crack on the controller that they said might get worse. I said All this was okay and understandable, and no rush. After not hearing back for over a month, I called, and they told me they hadn't been able to fix it, and had to send it to another location with a controller tech to work on it, but would call me in a week. I wasn't sure why they hadn't already, but I was fine with it. Two weeks later, I had to call them again. They said they weren't sure where it was, but hadn't been able to fix, it but wanted to try one more thing. I said okay again. They called me back and said no luck and I could come pick it up. This is now two months after I dropped it off.
I came in, the manager, Paul I believe, handed me the controller and apologized for not being able to fix it and said have a good day. But the controller itself was in terrible shape. The location of the crack now had a big hole where I could see into the controller. There were scrape marks all over it damaging the design, and it was covered in dirt and grime from head to toe. I was very surprised, and asked what had happened to the controller. Paul responded he wasn't sure as he had only started two weeks ago (my controller had been in their possession for two months) and got another person to explain the situation. The guy said they had warned me the controller crack might get worse, but there was nothing to do and they wouldn't charge me. I said I understood that, but then asked about all the other damage and dirt, and said that I was frustrated my controller was in significantly worse shape than when I dropped it off. To his credit, he took it in the back and cleaned it. He said that there was nothing he could do, and he wouldn't charge me. I told him my concern now besides the damage was if the controller would still work, and if not, I wanted to be compensated.
He assured me when he took it in the back, he checked to see if it worked, and it did, the batteries were just low. I do admit, I said some unkind things about the controller tech (not Paul or the other employee) when I left. Well, I took the controller home, charged it for the day, and unsurprisingly, it did not work. I think what bothers me the most was how apathetic and unsympathetic the people working there were, and how they didn't seem to care or see why I was so upset about the situation, and now I'm out a $150 special edition controller that if I held onto, would've just had drift issues, but now is completely useless. I'm not one to go online and rant, but I was very patient, and this is so frustrating. Between the terrible communication and wait, my controller being further damaged and broken, and the lying, this is just the worst service I have ever...
Read moreI had the worst experience at Ubreak it we fix it Smithtown NY. I went on to get my iphone screen fixed as it has cracked the guy quoted me $189 I then said I have a text from who I usually go and they are charging 100 I told him iâll go to my guy tomorrow he then. came down to $125 so he was trying to rip me of his name was Luke. Well I left as store was closing he changed screen which did not work went back and dealt with Daniel M. who was rude and said he would fix it again well as I drove away it was still broken spent 2 hrs and still had broken phone for $140. so I called said my time was wasted I want a refund he said I had to speak to mgr Nick so I called the mgr Nick and said he needed their glass back to get refund I said that was never told to me when I spoke to Daniel about a refund I have the recorded call. I even offered to compromise given back half or just a phone cover they wanted no part of trying to make their customer happy after they robbed my $140 and still had broken phone which I got fixed at Odyssey in Commack which of course he threw the defected screen out the other place gave me why would he hold it. It didnât work. So I went back to store to work it out Daniel was arrogant and wouldnât even look my way I said I want your ladyâs names I already called corporate and iâm filing small claims summons he the got a bit aggressive asking me to leave I said no I want the information. . There was no policy I said regarding their refund policy he then wasted the cops time called the cops who said the have been called to this store numerous times they donât know what their doing. He said he wouldnât use them ever again so for an officer to say this they take your money donât fix the problem and their scammers. See in court Losers you had your chance to make this right I was willing to compromise Hereâs the nasty man Daniel who was a baby and called police because he canât run a business. DONâT GO HERE especiallly if cops said they have been there several times. Small Claims here we come. Took pictures no sign about refund policy...
Read moreI was excited to use uBreakiFix. After initiating a claim on my device protection policy, Assurion recommended that instead of sending my device in for replacement that I go to uBreakIfix. The store was about 30 minutes away but I decided to give it a try. I called the store to ensure that I wasn't coming over for no reason and was surprised that the person I spoke with already had my info on file. I was told that if I came in the next morning they would have me in and out in about 2 hours. Next morning I drove over and checked in my phone expecting to be back in business in 2 hours. After about 10 minutes of signing in and performing device checks, I was told they were missing a part they needed for repair but they would have it tomorrow. I got in my car and drove home with my still broken device. The next day I showed up at the store and turned over my device. I was told to come back in 2.5 hours. Upon my return to the store I was told that because my device had evidence of water intrusion they couldn't fix it. I ended up having the device replaced through my insurance. All told, I lost two afternoons that I'll never get back. The stars I did give were for Jesse at the store who was super professional. I realize these things happen but this experience was pretty...
