I've been there about a total of 5 times over the last few years. Sometimes the service is clueless (like once the waitress walked away in mid-order, I guess she was thinking "I think you've ordered enough food". I actually had to call out "Wait, come back!"), but other times they are completely nice and on the ball. The food is consistently tasty, and interesting diversity of food available on the menu, chances are you will find what you want. And the portions are standard / large. And the wait times are decent. This is not "fast food" but a recent Friday night at 6:30PM reservation for 4 people, we ordered and were served in about 15 - 20 mins. In the context of the experience, the wait times are completely in line with what you would normally expect. A perfect time to chat with friends while you wait.
The noise level was moderate, probably due to the hard surfaces in the dining areas (separated from the bar area, which tends to be a bit crowded). Again, the noise level is completely in line with what you would expect for this kind of place.
WARNING: After they seat you, they bring cole slaw, pickles, and deep fried rye bread with pub cheese. The fried bread is addictive so I haven't touched it in a while, but you have been warned--if you take a taste, you may not be able to stop.
The French Onion soup is a favorite, lots of gooey cheese, melted over the sides, requiring the use of a knife to pry the melted crispier cheese off the sides. The soup itself tastes best when hot, which may not always be the case when served (I guess it is a long walk from the kitchen). The soup itself is good but it would be tastier if the ingredients were fresher. A perfect opportunity for the chef to improve the taste with very little increase in cost or effort.
The salt and pepper shakers could use a good cleaning, nothing worse than the greasy and dirty feel of grimy salt and pepper shakers during a meal, just before you pick up your burger with your hands.
The French Fries are crispy and good, and the burgers are quite good. Overall, a decent selection of pub food, well prepared, and served decently. It all adds up to a fairly enjoyable meal.
Improvements? Yes. First and foremost, the basic taste of the food (i.e. better, fresher ingredients), a refresh in the dΓ©cor (or maybe just a good scrubbin'), and improvements in the service (better training and pep talks, asking them how to make improvements, etc.) would benefit everyone, translate to bigger tips for the wait staff, and happier and more positive reviews...
Β Β Β Read moreI've just had the first of what I am now sure will be many meals at this restaurant. A bar and restaurant, we were sat at a booth on the bar side which was a little noisy but a Friday night at a bar what could be expected. We decided to try this restaurant tonight because the menu looked good. I can honestly say that this was the first meal thay I have had in a long while that legitimately had me say "wow". Every item of food from the lettuce and pickles that accompanied my burger to the burger itself and the appetizers was absolutely incredible. Not good. Not great. INCREDIBLE. My wife and I started with splitting the mushroom cap appetizer and the French Onion Soup. My wife, who is a big fan of stuffed mushrooms, took the first bite. She commented that they were the best she had ever had, and I heartily agree. Also, I have never cared for French Onion Soup. I ate probably more than my fair share of the soup here. It was the first time I have ever enjoyed French Onion Soup and it was perfect. I had the Poutine Burger and my wife had the Lobster Roll off of the weekly specials menu, both of whoch were, again, EXCEPTIONAL. The food was literally a 10 out of 10. And the wait staff was excellent as well. I wish to also compliment specifically the gentleman that was the waiters assistant/barback/busboy unsure of his title but his attitude was warm, positive, and infectious. He was a pleasure every time he came to our table, as was the waiter, who kept us in Soda and napkins without us even having to ask. This was a really pleasant suprise and I can not recommend this establishment more. 5 thumbs up, 10 out of 10, why are you still reading this go and try it for...
Β Β Β Read moreThis restaurant is in a strip mall, with a busy parking lot. You walk into the bar side, which on a Friday night was very crowded and very noisy. You have to walk through the crowd to get to the restaurant podium. We had reservations, and were seated immediately. Our server, Jenna, pleasantly arrived to take our drink order. A complimentary plate of fried bread with a pub cheese spread was served. We ordered the baked clam for an appetizer. Not the nest we've had, but not the worst. A nice crust on top, with chopped clams in the mixture, alon with pieces of bacon. My husband ordered the Old Street Chicken, basically chicken cordon bleu. He chose a salad instead of soup and fries as a side. He really enjoyed the batter fried chicken, covered with ham and Swiss. I ordered the stuffed shrimp and chose soup, French onion, along with rice pilaf as a side. The french onion soup had a dark, rich broth, and was delicious. The shrimp was stuffed with a crab meat mixture and very good. Jenna provided great service, we never had to ask for a drink refill. The menu had enough of a selection to peak our interest for us to...
