Worst hospital you could go to in a car accident. On the night of August 10, I had a bicycle accident while I was traveling to my house, I seriously injured my back and my knee as well. I arrived at the hospital in an ambulance at 1 am, they took my blood and x-ray at 6 am. I was in horrible pain that wouldn't let me speak. The only thing I had for the pain was what they had given me in the ambulance. Total madness. I thank God that he was always by my side. I only saw the doctor on that shift once and it was when she read the study to me. To all that when they got me up to finally have a CT scan and some x-rays at 6 am I lasted until 11:30 am to read the results until they later told me that I was just very swollen and that I needed to rest. At that point I was disoriented, I don't know if it was from the fatigue, pain, or the medication they gave me, which I didn't ask for details of my injuries (after the CT and X-ray they gave me more medication), I just wanted to get home and rest. The nurse who made me fill out the discharge form made me feel accused to fill out the discharge form so I could get out of the bed that was in the hallway, she force me to stand up and she didn't care about all the pain i was feeling. Every movement was a challenge. (they had me in a bed in the hallway).
Then until the second week I went to see my doctor because the first week I was in so much pain that I couldn't even move. The doctor ordered an MRI for my back and my knee because my knee kept swelling, since the hospital never did an X-ray or any study of my knee, and I thought they had. Until the 4th week I found out that my knee ligaments were torn and the hospital never put a knee immobilizer on me. That hospital is a morgue if I had a broken rib I would have died from waiting. I called the complaints department and they didn't even call me back. This is not the first time this has happened to me in this hospital. (Preference with...
Read moreIf you want to live, DO NOT go to Southampton Hospital! My husband walked in first to let them know I have Covid (#1). I did my registration and they asked what I was there for. I told them I have Covid and was having trouble breathing (#2). I saw the triage nurse and told her I HAVE COVID AND WAS HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING!!! (#3). I sat there for almost an hour before they called me in. An aide, I believe, asked me to change into a gown n she hooked me up to a heart monitor. I told HER, I HAVE COVID AND I'M HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING!! (#4). I was wheezing and my oxygen was down to 92%. After an HOUR of waiting, I rang the call bell. I told her, "I can't breathe, I need a breathing treatment and my hand is feeling tingly. When is somebody coming in to see me!?" She said oh no... let me check. NOBODY CAME BACK!!! I rang the bell again and told a different nurse... I HAVE COVID. I CAN'T BREATHE!!!!!!!! Can I have a breathing treatment!! (#5). She told me they were busy and she'd have to ask MY NURSE!!! I never saw ANYBODY once I got in the room, so I have no clue who "My Nurse" was!!! I jumped up n said forget it!! My hands were tingling and I couldn't breathe!! THEN, THEN!!!! A doctor rushes in!! I said FORGET IT!!! I have COVID and I CANNOT BREATHE!! I'm leaving!! He had the nerve to say VERY SURPRISED, oh, you have COVID!!!??????? Hmmmm.... I think I told FIVE PEOPLE I HAVE COVID AND I CANNOT BREATHE!!!!! I said, I don't care who you are!!! This hospital is a JOKE!! I don't want to die. I'm leaving!!!! I pulled the heart monitor off n walked out!!! I would rather die at home. I wouldn't go there for a splinter in my finger or if I'm actually dying!!!! I'd get myself to Peconic Bay in Riverhead!!! The absolute WORST CARE EVER!!! They were "BUSY" so me not being able to breathe was NOT a priority! And check ALL THE REVIEWS... It's not just me!! They SUCK!!!!! The one star is for the concierge lady, otherwise they’d get a...
Read moreI would not recommend this facility unless absolutely necessary or if you have no concern for the quality of care you receive. Of all the healthcare facilities I’ve visited, Stony Brook Southampton has been the worst experience by far.
Patient services were terrible. The woman at check in was rude. I arrived with a partially torn Achilles and clearly communicated this multiple times, yet was not offered a wheelchair or any assistance until I expressed frustration. The triage nurse was extremely rude and dismissive, repeatedly interrupted me, and responded sarcastically when I explained I did not want to walk much out of fear of worsening my injury.
I was never given a room when admitted. Instead was placed in a hallway for over an hour, during which I overheard staff making inappropriate and unprofessional remarks about other patients, including joking about medical conditions, like a woman possibly having retrograde amnesia because they had to consult on the same issue with her multiple times. And sharing medical information with no discretion, like which rooms and patients had Covid and Hepatitis. Everyone in that facility was unhelpful, rude, disorganized and unprofessional, with exception of one nurse. Even the physician failed to communicate a clear diagnosis or treatment plan, and communicated literally nothing to me.
Nobody collected my insurance information until discharge. Despite me offering on multiple occasions to provide it. My efforts to follow up, I’ve had to call at least 10 times to obtain an insurance verification form. Have yet to reach anybody. Overall, the experience was unprofessional, disorganized, and concerning from a patient care perspective. If I could describe it all in one word....
