I went to the dmv to transfer a car that I bought into my name. The car is from Washington. The car a 2005 BMW X5 won’t even drive far enough to get to the smog station everything under the sun has gone wrong I have two fix it tickets for registration when I’m trying to clear the codes after 6 different issues I have fixed now I’m late on sign off of my car have to drive all over San Joaquin county to clear up my PAID FOR TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP TITLE AND SMOG BE AUSE IF THE DMV I HSVE SUFFERED IRREPARABLE HARM CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR AND NOW HAVE NO CAR DUE TO THE INEPT PEOPLE running our DMV. I was given my documents back currently, I’m not receiving my title, even though I paid for the car and I paid for the transfer Who the heck do you think you people are? Just because I don’t have a smog, doesn’t mean I don’t own it and I am very angry. I am done dealing with this moronic 30 days expiration to fix a car and have it IM ready which can take up to 3 weeks!!!! Because the DMV EMPLOYEE DID NOT Advise me that I wasn’t getting my title because he chose not to send it to me and gave me back my paperwork after I paid for the transfer Now I can’t even work with the Bureau of automotive repair to have the state of California buyback my car. And now there’s roadwork on my street and I can’t park on the road. I’ve nowhere to park the car nowhere to work on the car no more money to put into the car but the DMV doesn’t care. They took $212 dollars from me and did NOTHING!!! No title no nothing I am beside myself how dare you, get so far into my Personal life that you alone are deciding if I have a car or not. I’m fuming this is such a travesty you work for us it is high time to put a stop to all of this This in your face governing. You are to help the taxpayers not you administrative state. What a joke what an injustice I’m not going to stand...
Read moreThird time was, unfortunately, not the charm in this case! Attempted to schedule an appointment online, but could not figure out how. I did submit an application for my DL, though, with verification docs. Upon arrival I was advised that I needed printed documents. This does not seem very eco friendly, especially with the clear attempts at this branch for efficient, tech-savvy process change, but I left and returned with physical documents.
Was able to use the get in line feature this time. When I was finally seen, I was told the screenshot of the insurance document that included name and address was not sufficient for address verification. They needed the PDF that reflected the same information (the screenshot included the whole page). They also suggested me printing out a 20pg lease document, but I explained I already made a special trip to pay for that printout. I was given an appt card for 430. When I asked about the timeline for the whole process, the rep said 20minutes.
When I later scanned the QR code on this card, it said there was no appt. We happen to be able to arrive half an hour early so it didn’t matter anyways. After waiting again, I was then advised that the testing closed at 430. I’m curious why someone would set an appointment for a time where the process couldn’t be completed, particularly when I asked about the entirety of the process.
I am very disappointed and really sympathize with the workers there. They are having to enforce policies that set them up for antagonistic interactions with the public. It is posted that threatening remarks can lead to a fine or jail time likely because the org knows that the interactions will lead to such frustrations. I would love to speak to someone that could either explain the ‘why’ behind what happened during my experience or assist in creating...
Read moreWho puts 5 stars and proclaims they love DMV?.... Me! Well I had recently realized that it's was way past the time to renew my Driver's License (yeah I can be a bit of a procrastinator when I know I "HAVE" to do something that I'm not looking forward to & that I don't find enjoyable.) I equate going to DMV right up there with having a root canal done. Not fun at all. But I had put it off so long that I had no other choice but to go get it done. I was getting a "Real" Driver's License since they were going to pretty much become mandatory in the near future. I did most of the renewel on line. Super easy, self explanatory. You are able to get all drivers license online now. I needed to go in just to give some extra papers. Now I live in Oakdale, so I naturally assumed I'd go to the closest office being the Modesto DMV. Well turns out that's a big NO! After looking at the site and all the reviews I knew I didn't want to spend my entire day in the DMV line with all the other "happy" people. It was described as a mad house with long winding lines that start at 7.30am long before the office even opens. Still I thought that if I had an appointment I might not have to be there too long. But the soonest appointment was not until June 21. A full month away. I decided to get an appointment in Tracy. I called at 8am and had an appointment that very day at 1pm. I was so happy when I got there. No lines, no grumpy people, everything was streamlined and there were wide open spaces! I turned in my papers, got my picture taken and I was done. TaDah! I had my California License😊 (well the paper one till the "Real" one gets mailed to me) overall it very calming experience. Who would have ever thought a DMV that you are in and out of in less than 30 minutes and the staff was pleasant at friendly. Way to go...
