Yafa Hummus — Restaurant in Tracy

A new Mediterranean venture in Tracy leaning on the cool / Hip side with some traditional shawarma swirling around. The decor is nice & service is commendable. The menu is broadly on three criteria side, Sandwich , Bowl with pretty much all the available options intermingling with each other at one stage or other.

Now the Food : Shawarma / Gyro is fresh swirling around the heat but other than most of the items are pre-made be it salads, tabouleh, dolma, Baba Ganoush etc. Pita breads are pre-packed ones & baklava are in the front display. You can pretty much combine them with sauces like Tahini, Garlic etc & the owners are good enough to suggest a perfect fit. Though most of the stuffs are pre-made they have a lot of options for both Veg & Non-Veg lovers.

BUT most of the stuffs have a very typical & common sour taste be it the salad or the sauce or the hummus. So, your Taste buds turn numb with the same palette. Being a new venture probably they are still working on finding the right mix of different ingredients but sooner they find a distinct taste the better.

CONS : FALAFEL I am so used to made to order falafels at other places, that fried golden brown crispy balls with melt in your mouth taste is missing here. They are also Pre-Made which completely takes away the whole joy of biting into that hot crunch & it doesn't taste great at all. HUMMUS also did not taste half as good as packaged Costco ones. Specifically when the name carries hummus on it, expectation are at an all time high. So a solid -2 stars coz Falafel & Hummus defines Mediterranean food.

PRO: Great Service / Nice Atmosphere / Owners with an accommodating attitude / Good menu selection / Clean place

*My 2 Cents : Adding Calorie / Fat / Sodium / Cholesterol information to the menu will give that hipster place a much needed boost.

Delicious food at affordable prices! Yafa Hummus is the place to go when you want a healthier option for your meal.

I've been here twice already, and I've ordered tried their chicken plate and their falafel wrap. Both are very good.

I got my chicken plate with hummus, rice, and salad along with their tahini and garlic sauces. It's definite filling. The chicken was moist, and I love the kick of the garlic sauce.

The falafel wrap was just right to satisfy me. I wasn't very hungry, but needed something in my belly to stop me from getting hangry. I got the wrap with the tahini sauce, but next time I'm adding the garlic sauce. I put a little of their hot sauce in it, and whoo! My mouth was on fire (in a good way)! A little of the hot sauce goes a long way. I'm not too weak when it comes to spicy food, so maybe their hot sauce is right for those who like things really spicy.

And I recommend getting baklava. I prefer it plain, but you could add Nutella to it for an extra cost, if available.

There's not a lot of seating as the place is small. But turnaround time is quick. And service is fast and friendly.

The last time I was there, their Fivestars app wasn't working, so I missed out on some major points. Hopefully it's up and running again the...

Oh my goodness where do I start!? This place is a go to if you're reading the reviews and hesitating on whether you want to try it or not do yourself a favor and just go there! The staff is super friendly and attentive and they will walk you through the menu if you have no idea what the items are or what is in it. I was struggling to carry my pick up order and the cashier offered to help me to the car which is such a surprise kind gesture from any restaurant I've been to in Tracy. The food is so juicy and tasty not like many other places around the Central valley. I usually get my Mediterranean fix by driving to the Bay area but this is hands down my go to place now. Baklava is also sold here it's been a hit or miss for me on these though, most specifically with the Walnut ones. They also offer a little baklava Tray of 12 for $20 in the case you just want the dessert. Other than that, this minor miss this place is amazing. For the bigger bang for your buck meal I'd suggest their bowls. y'all need to try this place out...also if the owner is reading this, I'm going to go broke eating at this joint it would be awesome if you offered loyalty cards for returning...
