DO NOT COME TO DEKALB FOR EDUCATION!!!!Dekalb board of education is a joke and a great disservice to the education system. This is honestly the worst country when it comes to education. Run don’t walk! The teachers don’t care, the admin team wants to address things as little as possible so they hide behind the front office staff with policies of 24 hour turn around before you can speak to an admin about any issue let alone an urgent one. And the further up the chain you go the worse it gets. Transportation is a hazard and honest danger to the students. The bus drivers don’t verify information and have dropped my special needs daughter to the wrong address, they drive through residential neighborhoods and school parking lots like race car drivers and once again reaching out to the board of transportation does nothing. Little to no response. I receive more automatic emails from Dr. Horton than I do from the staff directly involved with my child even when I’m the one...

My son name Cedric Jefferson attended fairington Elementary School ,and Salem middle School during the 1990's. My youngest sister Pamela Denise Jefferies attended Lithonia highschool during the 1990's. While they each lived with me at, meadow woods apt, Continental Villas Apt and pinewoods Apts. We enjoyed living at those apartments I was employed with Lithonia lighting company in Conyers GA from 1984 to 1996. Cedric Jefferson and Pamela Denise Jefferies never experienced anything bad at those public schools. I'm Cedric Jefferson's mother and Pamela Denise Jefferies is my youngest sister they had to come live with me after our mother passed away in a car accident the yr of 1989. I drove a Nissan Sentra 5 speed stick shift I was their caregiver, legal guardian,mother sister cook and provider. Hard working...

Current teacher, and I will say that the school board needs to be removed and replaced. HOW DO YOU GO THROUGH 7 SUPERINDENDENTS OVER 12 YEARS?!?!?! Then you waste tax-payer money paying them after you fire them??? WHERE is the funding for sports, arts, etc.? WHY ARE THE SCHOOL DELAPIDATED, INFESTED WITH ROACHES, SMELL OF SEWAGE...should I go on?
