I decided I wanted to upgrade from that wobbly flat-pack furniture. I had a few old pieces in the bedroom and needed some other pieces, so it seemed like a good place to start. After looking online, I went to Ethan Allen because they some furniture with cool looking veneers. I own a kitchen table from Ethan Allen that I purchased second-hand, and was happy with how well it's held up over dozen years and multiple moves.
It took about a month for them to deliver the in-stock furniture, which was a bed frame and dresser. When it arrived, the wood was cracked, had dozens of dents, and a couple extra drops of stain and wood glue. I was amazed that this furniture managed to pass QA, and wasn't sent straight to a factory-mistakes clearance section. To top it off, I later discovered that the delivery guys didn't bother using the pilot holes in the bed frame, and just drilled new holes wherever they needed.
I called Ethan Allen immediately and sent them photos of the damage. All they wanted to talk about was "natural wood variation" and how a touch-up and fill professional would fix everything. I had sent them photos of cracked wood and multiple dents and they wanted to pretend like the color was a little lighter than the sample. I had to demand that they replace the footboard of the bed frame, which was cracked.
When their touch-up professional arrived a month after delivery, he took a quick look at the footboard of the bed and didn't even want to bother with it because of the crack. He tried of repair one of the side rails of the bed frame, but admitted that the dents were too deep and the piece should be replaced. The dents in the dresser couldn't be repaired, and I'll have to live with how the factory sanded down some corners to blend out their carelessness. So really the only thing that got fixed was the headboard which had very minor defects, and was quickly repaired using a furniture marker.
I'll never be buying from Ethan Allen again. The furniture they delivered to me shouldn't have passed QA. Their customer service only wanted to do the absolute minimum that they had too to keep the furniture from being returned. Seems that Ethan Allen is more concerned with costs these days than with customer...
Read moreWe began our Ethan Allen journey after moving into a new space and needing to furnish our living room. We were looking for a new couch but not 100% sure what that might look like for us or how it would fit in our new space. Fortunately, interior designer Renae came to our rescue. She listened to our needs, our aesthetics, and our budget outline. She helped us identify which styles and kinds of fabrics we both liked. She even came to our house and measured and took photos of the space we needed to furnish. Then she designed some gorgeous options not just for a couch but for a complete, harmonious living room in which the couch would be a key piece. From there, she helped us customize our couch and even helped us find two really perfect end tables to go with it. She brought styling options and ideas to our attention that we could not have thought of ourselves, and accomplished the Herculean task of helping us envision a room in which elements of our two very different style sensibilities would come together cohesively. We went looking for a couch but we left with so much more in terms of interior design vision and a sense of direction for finishing our living space. I am really grateful to Renae for the hard work she put into helping us, her patience as we went back and forth over fabric and color samples, and the abundance of spot-on suggestions she had. This is why you go to a place like Ethan Allen, so you can work with an experienced professional whose goal is not to sell you a couch but to help you envision and realize a living space you will be happy with for years. I appreciate that Renae embraced our contemporary taste as well as our appreciation for some of EA's more classic pieces. It was a great experience and left us with a lot more certainty about our furniture and aesthetic choices moving forward. Thank you, Renae! Definitely visit the folks at the Oracle Rd. Read moreMy husband and I purchased the Vinson Table in Rustic Sable from Ethan Allen on 10/03/2020. I don’t remember the delivery date, but I believe it was in November or December. By May of 2021, the finish was chipping off and upon review of the product by an outside contractor hired by Ethan Allen, it was deemed irreparable and replacement was recommended. I do not remember how long we waited for the replacement.
The finish on the replacement table started flaking off Thanksgiving day 2022. This table rarely gets used. It’s just my husband and I and we eat our meals at the kitchen counter (on our Ethan Allen counter stools), so the table only gets used every couple of weeks when we have guests.
It was suggested that we try a different table, but the dimensions on the tables that would come in similar finishes (to match the chairs and bench) did not work for our space.
Frank is currently working to get the table exchanged again for us. Hoping the 3rd time will be the charm! Expecting the table in about 6 weeks.
My original review was one star, but the effort from the Ethan Allen team to get this resolved has prompted me to raise the rating to four stars. I can’t quite give 5 stars due to the quality issues with the product.
Our table was replaced 12/21. The quickest and smoothest customer service transaction we have had with Ethan Allen. The team at the store and the service department provided us impeccable...
