We were a group of 11 on a Thursday night at 6:30-7:00 pm. At this time time there was but a table of 2 & a table of 6 in the dining area. We were the closest table to the bar which had 3 people. It was by no means busy by any stretch of imagination. We saw at least 4 staff members between bartender & serving floor personnel. Should have been more than enough to handle the customers, but service was terrible!!! After several of us kept asking to order drinks our server finally made it over to take orders after a half hour, it was almost another half hour before we actually got them. On the + side server returned to take food order about 10 minutes after being drinks, however the food took at least another half hour to 45 minutes to come. Had the food been exceptional or complicated in prep the time factor could be overlooked, however it was only average in quality & tacos & fajitas are not complicated recipes. I am very aware that everyone has bad or off days. As I have been actively working in the bar/restaurant industry for many years, I would normally give in to this theory & give this place a second chance. But not this time. The reason I will not go here again is the staff showed no signs of caring about their service and gave no reason, excuse or apology for their lax performance. (It took close to 15 minutes for 1 of our group to get a take out box for their leftovers). Very disappointing, perhaps this location needs a full staff & management change? It is my understanding there is another Gringos location in Tucson, I will consider trying that. To end this on a positive note, the location we were had a really nice outdoor dining area complete with a fireplace or chimmea(spelling), would have loved to eat outside had it not been a rainy night...

I wanted so much to love this restaurant, since we were staying on property but, alas it didnt happen. First, their bar drinks are very over priced unless happy hour is there. The margarita is not at all what i liked, so ask for extra agave if its bland and too strong. It fixes it a bit. We were seated shortly after 6pm on a wednesday. Not busy at all. The manager seated us, and was nice. We sat for about 15-20 minutes before the waiter came over. We ordered drinks and told him we were ready to order our food, when he walked away. So waited another 10 minutes before he came back to fill waters, and bring our ordered drinks. At which point ordered out appetizer, and dinners (2 adults, 3 kids). It was another 30 minutes before we asked for the manager since no food had come out, and water glasses stood empty. The manager told us she would make sure she fixed it. We got all the entree food out which was stale, cold, and did not taste good. 20 minutes later our "queso" appetizer came out. Im not sure why they call it "queso". It was literallt just melted cheese with no flavor. The manager, upon learning this, had the tacos remade and given to us to go. We were given 25% off of the food (which i didnt argue about simply because i didnt want to stay there any longer). I wasnt pleased, and i definitely wouldnt recommend this place. The server was slow and didnt even pay attention to us at all. The food wasnt great, especially for the price, even...

I decided to give this place a chance although some of the reviews were unfavorable due to the service. We ordered guacamole and chips which did not take more than 15 minutes. Our server brought us water and I ordered a margarita. There were approximately 3 or 4 occupied tables at the time. The margarita had no tequila in it I am certain. This was probably due to the fact that the server and host and busboy were also making drinks. I did not complain. We ate our chips and guacamole without napkins or silverware. As we sat there 3 or 4 more tables were occupied. As the food was coming out we were laughing so hard when the two males were going table to table not knowing whose food was what. After an hour we received our food which was surprisingly good. We asked for silverware. Our server tried very hard to run past our table several times. I know this trick as I was a server myself. I ordered another margarita in the hopes that they would remember the tequila but they did not remember the margarita so go figure. It’s sad that this business does not have staff as the food is 8/10. We won’t go back but wish them luck as they have a...

Went down Oracle and found ourselves hanging out at Gringos Grill & Cantina. They had 13 folks at the bar having a great time, two bartenders and a two cooks slinging food. Matthew was honest out the gate they were short handed so we gave them some slack on a Friday night. Menu is full of value and flavor, we ordered an Elote Chicken Salad and a Carne Asada Burro. The sprite drinks was flat and they ran out of sun tea mid afternoon. Chips were super stale, salsa had great flavor not hot so you could eat it by the chipfull. Elote Salad presented well, chicken was dry and low flavor other then the grill char that wasn't over powering. The salad itself was chopped greens and cabbage, tomatoes, Cota cheese and a creame dressing. The mini corn cob was cold. The Carne Asada Burro was good size and flavor but the meat was over salted, yes salted can be subjective but as a salt lover it was a bit much. Rice was cold, beans were luke warm but had good flavor. Overall 5.6 of 10

If you want to try some Tucson favorites, Gringo is definitely a good place to go. There is a wide variety of options available on the menu to satisfy anyone, from traditional items such as steak to more unique specialties such as chile rellenos, both of which I've tried before. Out of those, I actually preferred the chile relleno, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. While the steak was expensive at $30, most the menu is very reasonable, such as the chile relleno at only $10. The salsa that comes before the meal is quite exceptional as well. Finally, the service I have experienced at Gringo has never been short of superb. Gringo has always been a favorite of mine at a great and beautiful location

Delicious food, great service, and scenic views. I understand there's a new chef, so I can't speak to the changes before and after. I just know it's more than I expected from a hotel resturant. Servers visited frequently, helpful with the menu for a first time visit, and helpful with tips for the area overall. Local and macro beer on tap, but not a huge selection as the focus is tequila. I had an amazing Kah tequila on the rocks, totally smooth and velvety. We split a juicy burger, (which was split!) tacos, and guac, all delicious and in heaping servings. Would highly suggest to fellow travelers!
