First, the staff was incredibly kind and very generous anytime we interacted with them. The rooms have a lot of beautiful details and potential, but just aren’t kept up with/maintained and cleaned well to really make it worth the money. The balcony was a nice touch, but furniture was also super dirty (obviously being outside in the desert there is going to be dust, but you can also take measures to ensure a clean space for guests to enjoy, like covers etc). The view was beeeeeautiful! The pool was heated and really nice and mostly clean. The breakfast was pretty good also. Lots of options for everyone I think. Dining area and the outdoor seating was all really nice too. Fun artwork throughout also. I included some photos of the room; cracked tiles in sink, lots of marks, smudges, stains on the walls (more than common dirt “traffic”). A full on shoe print high on the wall behind the bed? Outlets were only available on the lamps and they are too loose. So it won’t hold the charger and you can’t charge your phones. Outlet in bathroom worked best but still not great. Shower/bathroom set up was awkward. Light switch behind closed door, toilet at a weird angle in the center of the room (?), not a lot of space to easily move around. Microwave was spotty. Worked most of the time, door to fridge hangs off the hinge. The front/back doors also didn’t lock well. The balcony door barely locked, which didn’t feel super safe. There were also massive cracks along the front door and balcony doors. The floor throughout is tiled, and extremely dirty. After about 10-20min walking around getting ready for bed, my socks were totally blackened. I showed the front desk and they did apologize and removed the hotel fee ($54). However since I paid through a booking agent (priceline/booking.com) it was prepaid and I ended up having to spend 45min with Priceline to actually make the refund. *So I’d book directly with the hotel. I was also emailed a final invoice and it was cheaper than my Priceline invoice, so cheaper to book directly with hotel as well. Property was beautiful. It rained a lot, and it’s tile everywhere, and nearly flooded into the front door but wasn’t an issue.
Soooo much potential. The owners have a beautiful property, and a great staff who clearly care about their work and your stay. They just need to invest in fixing it up properly, and providing the cleaning team with adequate support if the whole place is going to be a textured tile where dirt is easily trapped and gets so gross. The floors were sticky and icky. Bring slippers and...
Read moreThird time staying here in a five year span and sadly it may be the last time. Check in was quick and uneventful but the walk to our room clearly indicated that this hotel is aging and in need of some upkeep. Small things like exterior walls having peeling paint and missing spots of stucco, elevator buttons missing, etc. The path to our room had overgrown bushes that required us to duck under branches to get to our room. There was a noticeable musty scent upon entering our room that only worsened into a mildew odor in the shower that had moldy decay on the ceiling due to no exhaust fan in the bathroom area. Housekeeping seemed subpar as the carpet was not vacuumed well, there was hair in shower, dust and dead insects on the air conditioning unit, a brown stain on the curtain, some sort of dried liquid on the night stand, and what appeared to be “toothbrushing” specs on the backsplash and mirror. I wiped everything down with Clorox wipes that I always pack when traveling. There were only 2 fresh hand towels and a bath mat in the bathroom so I went to front desk to ask for bath towels and washcloths. The staff member stated he had none to give me but he would contact housekeeping to “find out what’s going on.” So after going to dinner without showering and 2 hours later I asked again if housekeeping would be bringing towels and he stated he would “just give me some” and proceeds to give me 2 bath towels and 3 washcloths from a closet that was clearly FILLED with linens! SMH!
The one plus: Cut to next morning and breakfast provided was nice and very well prepared and stocked by a friendly lady! End of the one plus!
At about 9:00 am I was going to swim but located 2 dead mice in the pool and used the pool net to remove them and dispose of in the trash can nearby. I made the front desk aware in the event they needed to clean/disinfect the pool before swimmers entered it but the staff member told me it was actually a common occurrence and that the chlorine kills all bacteria so it was no big deal. He thanked me for removing the rodents and said he would’ve done it since maintenance hadn’t come on duty yet. How is that acceptable for a “resort” that even charges resort fees? I really liked this hotel the first time I stayed as it was well maintained and very clean. I’m sad that I won’t be returning as it is in a very...
Read moreWe are going to give 4 stars because we liked the room and the resort grounds, however it was probably more of the 3 star experience. Our room was a king suite on level 2 ( which is actually the parking level). We enjoyed being able to pull up and walk right into our room. The room had tile floors and an old world Spanish feel with a painted headboard. ( cute! And we like the tile floors when traveling) The breakfast was common for what you would receive in a motel however you pay a $22 per night resort fee to cover this. They did offer mimosas, however we are not champagne drinkers. Would have loved a Bloody Mary option. The bar was not open in the morning. Speaking of the bar, it was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. We enjoy a glass of wine before bed. Our experience with the bar was 1star. After a long day of travel we checked in and headed straight there before the 8pm closing. Ordered some appetizers and inquired about a bottle of wine. At 7pm the bar staff could not offer us a fresh bottle of wine because they were locked up and inaccessible. We inquired about the bottles they had open and date of opening. Staff could not tell us when the bottles had been opened. We have had bad wine before and usually order a full bottle to prevent this. Skipped the wine since we couldn’t be sure of date ( ended up leaving and going around the corner to the target to pick some up, btw, excellent selection of you need some)
Back to the room, it showed wetbar on listing, however there we no glasses or dish soap provided. We felt the bed could have use a blanket on the bed, which we did find one in the top of the closet as we were checking out. Our fault, after 2 cold nights. The bathroom also could use a bit of attention, as it seem to have a bad smell, even though it seem clean. Location- at least a 30 min drive to either side of saguaro national park or Biosphere. I think this is going to be the case for a lot of Tucson, however I may have choose another resort had I realized the travel time to the parks. I would suggest if you are short on time, looking up the side of the park you want to visit or the attraction your heading to and confirm travel time ( which I didn’t. )
Nightly price was a good value , and in line, without the additional Al of...
