I came into harbor freight on oracle and prince to get a couple of items for my grill at home. upon entering the store, a very loud and demeaning security guard TOLD me, not asked me to leave my backpack on the dirty harbor freight floor. I advised him that i had medication in my backpack and didn't feel comfortable leaving the bag unattended on the floor. As i walked up him, he was on the phone with somebody, and when i told him i was not feeling comfortable leaving my prescriptions unattended on the floor, he said to the person on the phone " are you hearing this??", in an instant attempt to assess his power and control as a security guard. I then proceded to let the security guard and cashier know that i was a harbor freight customer and had purchased a yearly member ship service for around $30-$45 and i didn't appreciate being treated as a thief, to which i was called a liar because "the member ship only costs $29.99 a year." i attempted to shop for my items but the security guard threatened to arrest me and imposed his body in front of mine, making it impossible for me to advance without an altercation. I was humiliated in front of other customers and told not to come back. when i returned 5 seconds later to show the employees that i in fact was a customer and had my member card in hand after getting it from my wallet, i was told that it didn't mean anything and that i should leave before the police arrived. i have a backpack because that's where i carry my items while on the bus. While not all of us are fortunate enough to have our own vehicle and put things in our trunks, we should not be treated as second class citizens. i called corporate and they said a district manager would be reaching out within 5 days, and that was 2-3 weeks ago. Just know that security can't tell the difference between a hardworking man and drug addict who steals from them, we are all the same to...
Read moreUsually we buy name brand tools only but we finally decided to try harbor freight out. I’m an hvac technician cross trained as a plumber. My wife and I also own a Tucson based brand/print start up and we are landlords/property owners and former brick and mortar smoke shop owners. We came in the other day to look for a shovel and a Warren hoe for some yard work that needed to be done at one of our properties. Though I’ll admit I’m a lil disheveled having not cut my hair in a bit due to having a bunch of our money tied up in business affairs but While I was there, the wife and I couldn’t help but notice management and security gravitating to watch each aisle we went down as we shopped this place for the second time this week as we had found the two pipe wrenches I bought a day before to be sufficient for the job we had to do on our duplex for the price we paid for them here. The security and management obviously annoyed the hell out of us so we left with a weird taste in our mouths about the company. We did find a spade shovel but unfortunately no Warren Hoe. We’d had given 5 stars had it not been for management and security profiling me. We drove all the way from by the U of A to give you a try. I’d considered giving 3 stars due to the way it made me feel but I realize employees can sometimes overstep and not think about what’s actually in the best interest of the company that hired them to serve the public. We found two pipe wrenches the first day of different lengths and we got a spade shovel the second day but was unable to find a Warren hoe here. :) we’ll give you another try but we’d appreciate a warmer welcome from places we...
Read moreHarbor Freight on Oracle apparently doesnt know the law. It is ILLEGAL to charge a restocking fee on a defective product. My wife and I bought an open box pressure washer. At checkout the salesperson told me there would be a restock fee if I returned the product. I commented that as this was an open box sale if the product worked ... no problem, but if it was defective I would bring it back and not pay the restock fee. The sales clerk agreed and I took the pressure washer home. Alas, the machine lacked the bib for the water hose and was defective. My wife returned it still in its wrapping but the store manager, Josh, insisted on charging the restock fee of 20% stating it was store policy....and he would not budge, despite the fact we had photo evidence of my old good washer and the new defective washer (exact same model). I called later and Josh was insistent, rude, aggressive and all around lacking in customer service skillls as he continued to insist that his policy trumped all. I finally gave up and called corporate office. They politely agreed to refund my money. I then researched policy of charging restock fees on defective items...IT IS ILLEGAL!!! Josh's store policy is against the law. I like Harbor Freight but will not return...
