A couple of years ago during Christmas my Mother was in hospice. She was dying of cancer. We took a quick trip home to shower and change and pick up a few things for my mom. While we were home my Dad realized that he had forgotten to mail his JCP bill. My parents were always very good at making sure things were paid and paid on time. The JCP at the spectrum is very close to my parents house so we decided to stop in and get the bill taken care of before going back to my Mom. When we got there the parking lot was full. My dad dropped me off at the front of the store and I walked in. My heart quickly sank as I saw the line to the registers. It went all the way to the back of the store. I could feel my eyes fill up with tears. This isn't where I wanted to be. While I was trying to figure out if I should walk out or get in line, a member of the staff came up and asked if I needed any help. I believe she was a manager and I can't for certain remember her name ( my apologies), but I think it was Gina. I explained what was happening with the bill and what my family was going through. Right away she led me to the front of the line. In tears at that point, I paid my parents bill and was out of the store within minutes. My Mom passed away the next day on Christmas Eve. I can't begin to express how much appreciation I have for the woman that helped us. We were going through one of the worst times and her gesture meant more to me than I am able to explain. I wish I knew for certain who she was because she deserves my...
Read moreSo we go to the J.C. Penny in Spectrum Mall and stop at the Mattress department. We try several and decide that the demo BeautyRest Queen is great. Good side support, great center support. We spend $1,000 + another $150 or so for an extended warranty. Our research shows that Simmons BeautyRest has a 100 day no fault return policy, and free shipping and replacement if the mattress is defective.
What we receives is or may be a (knockoff) store special that does NOT have a manufacture's warranty (in the fine print on the BeautyRest website it says that Simmons BeautyRest does not supply a warranty unless you ordered the mattress from their website, and the only warranty is the retailers. The retailer in this case being J.C. Penny, and they want to first NOT consider that the mattress that has zero side support and sinks nearly 6" in the middle is defective, and second that the warranty and extended warranty is only for stains, not defects or NO fault. They then wanted about $180 for pickup and restocking the junk they sold us. And to further add to the delight, recommended we spend another $700 or more (in addition to what we already spent) on a Serta (made by Simmons I believe).
Needless to say, we are not happy and J. C. Penny can go the way of Sears...
Read moreI stopped going to my previous stylist because she won’t get the COVID vaccine. I made an appointment here, online, with the note that I want a vaccinated stylist. Apparently no one read that note. When I arrived and was led to the chair, I told the stylist why I was looking for a new hair place, that I only want to be in close proximity to people who are vaccinated. He said that he does not disclose his personal medical information to clients. He then said that it was illegal for me to ask him about his vaccine status. He went on like this for a few sentences. As a healthcare worker who has seen many deaths from this disease, my experience is that people with that attitude tend to be unvaccinated for political reasons. I don’t know if that’s the case with this man. But I don’t want his hands on my head. We were both polite when I decided to forego the...
