I say dislike instead of hate because the gym itself isn't half bad.
When it comes to cleanliness I see the staff constantly cleaning the equipment, the one gentleman that cleans has a WONDERFUL personality. There is not one time in the five months that I've been going there, I go almost six days a week, that he has not been the most pleasant person there if not the most pleasant I interact with in my day. He is the epitome of how a customer service rep SHOULD behave, and there lies the problem. However the lockers many a time where very unclean.
As the reviews have said the boss of this location is very cold, unwelcoming, not someone that should be sitting in the front basically. I have never seen him smile, and I've stated how often I go. He does not welcome you or even TRY to interact, he simply takes your id, swipes, and says nothing during the process.
My REAL issue lies in being lied to myself and the ridiculous process I'm enduring because of an employee not knowing what the hell he was saying. I paid for five months of a membership and signed up for a membership and paid over the phone. I wasn't informed when I signed up of the stipulations of ending a membership if I so desired. Now I admit I did not read the contract, however this is why I asked an employee at this branch if my membership would end when the days I've paid for came to a close. I also asked if I would be automatically reissued a membership for a month meaning I would be charged automatically. I asked THREE TIMES and a month in advance of my membership ending. I was told that I wouldn't be charged and my membership would end, I clarified twice to make sure he understood exactly what I was saying and I understood him. What do you know my membership ended and I saw a charge from them for the amount of a membership. I called the office and was told repeatedly about the contract that stated this stipulation and told that the associate I dealt with likely didn't say such a thing. So I was basically told they thought I was lying and that even though it was their employees fault for not giving me the correct answer that I couldn't get a refund. I called the customer service office of the area and let them know what had happened and that I'd like a refund. Hmm, well the contract stated how to end a membership and oh yes I could certainly end my membership after the month they charged me for was up.....on and on.
I work in customer service, a hotel as a manager, and the customer service I received both at the location and customer service was disgusting! They both argued with me for ten minutes and tried to play the situation off as my fault for not reading the contract which I admitted to. Playing it off from the fact that I requested the information I would have found in the contract from THEIR EMPLOYEE and he lied or didn't know but in any case gave me an answer I relied on. So my next step would be to talk to yet ANOTHER person who may or may not be able to give me a refund....ARE YOU JOKING!? You DO NOT in customer service tell a customer they are wrong, argue with them, or be as money grubbing as this company is and expect to keep members. $38 is not a lot of money to me nor should it be to them, the point is that I was given a response and had a certain expectation that was not met and yet this company obviously is very stingy to the point that their employees don't feel they should offer a refund even when they are in the wrong. If one of my employees quoted a room a night at $38 when really the price was $99/night I could not in good customer service not honor the $38 rate, even though wrong, because that was what the customer expected.
Shame on you LA Fitness for employing and training people who do not understand the meaning of customer service. At the beginning of this ordeal I was still very much considering being a member even with the error after however I have not nor will I recommend your company. One of the worst ways to lose customers and potential is by word of...
Read moreMy workouts for now are exclusively confined to the pool, jacuzzi, and of course I use the shower there as well. My review is for those areas only. The pool hasn’t been drained and serviced in months. Tile surrounding the inside is so dirty you have to purposely try not to touch it because the gummy grime will stick to your fingers. The tile and grout areas surrounding outer pool area is full of mold from standing water. Now, let’s talk about the jacuzzi - this is a disgusting pool of E. coli. and body skin daily except on Mondays because that’s cleaning day. Next, the showers are a nightmare! I cannot imagine what the men’s area is like but I’m sure it has to be a health code violation. There’s hair and mold everywhere. Shower at your own risk better yet wrap your feet in trash bags first. I’ve been watching the same hair balls around the drains for weeks. My question is, do the managers walk their facility before they open their doors and periodically throughout the day? Dear manager would you allow your baby to shower in any of the shower stalls? Or, would you take a soak in the jacuzzi on Friday, Saturday or Sunday? I’m sure you would on Monday’s because that’s the only day it gets partially drained and filled with a fresh batch of chemicals. Clean up the fungus please, we deserve better. The very next time I see the conditions that saw this week I will post pictures and call the health...
Read moreI use the Golflinks club and no matter what time I go the club always seems to be somewhat busy. Even with being busy the club has plenty of equipment available to workout, you just have to adjust to whats open. The club is always clean and almost all of the equipment is in good condition. The one caveat is the row machines...there were two and they were both beat to death. One of them basically fell apart and was taken out. The other is essentially useless. It's a shame because they're fantastic for you and have tremendous benefits. Other than saying hi when I first go in I haven't had any dealing with the staff in the years I've been going to this location. Though they've never been rude, they seem pretty disinterested. Though honestly I probably seem the same to them so I guess it's a wash. All the clubs I've been a member of before had people up front that were outgoing and friendly. The only real complaint I have is with the personal training. You have to enroll in training which is incredibly expensive. What happened to helping the members? Every other club I've gone to you could ask for a spot or get some suggestions for variations of exercises... I tried to get some help with my 15 year old daughter. I just wanted someone knowledgeable to walk her through some stuff and instead I got a 20 min...
