Hotel Review: Hilton Tucson East – 7600 E Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ Date of Stay: June BEWARE of Unjustified Charges and Poor Communication My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Tucson East for just one night, and what should have been a simple and comfortable overnight visit turned into an ongoing and frustrating ordeal. We checked out at the front desk on the morning of June 30 with no mention of any additional fees. However, several days later, we noticed a pending charge of $560.25 on our account. Initially, we assumed it was a temporary hold and waited to see if it would fall off. Unfortunately, it posted to our account the next day. I contacted Hilton Customer Service and was informed that the charge was due to a smoking fee. This was a complete shock, since neither my husband nor I smoke. I disputed the charge and was transferred directly to the front desk at the Hilton Tucson East. The staff member I spoke with said she would email me further details, which she did. To my surprise, the email referenced the use of a “clean air detector,” which allegedly triggered the smoking fee. It also noted that certain non-smoking odors like candles or incense could set off this sensor. That’s when it clicked — I had lit a nice scented candle that night for ambiance, not realizing it could lead to a serious charge. Still traveling, I promptly went through my luggage, took photos of the used candle, and drafted a professional email explaining the situation, including photo evidence. I sent this directly to Chris Sapp, the General Manager, whose contact was listed in the hotel's correspondence. I politely requested that the $560.25 charge be reviewed and removed, as it was clearly a misunderstanding — not a case of smoking in the room. After five days with no response, I sent a courteous follow-up asking for a status update and confirmation that my message had been received. Unfortunately, the follow-up did not prompt a response. This experience has been extremely disappointing — not just because of the questionable charge, but due to the lack of accountability and communication from hotel management, which I find very unprofessional. This experience makes me seriously reconsider future stays. Final thoughts: If you’re thinking of staying at Hilton Tucson East, beware: simply lighting a candle could result in a $560 fee, and you may receive no response when trying to dispute it. I expected more from a Hilton-branded property.

I was extremely unimpressed by my stay here, this place is a glorified Motel 6. The Hilton sign out front has half fallen off anyway. I knew it seemed *too cheap* when I booked it, and gosh there are reasons. There are serious long-term cleanliness issues on the property, pictures included. Crusty fingerprint on the "clean" glasses. A lot of dust. Yellow crust on the kleenex came off of the bedside table. Vent in bathroom extremely dusty and barely attached (I checked in case someone hid contraband, dang no luck). Bathroom faucet also barely attached, and bath faucet leaks significantly during showers. The kicker was what I REALLY hope wasn't a bottle of lube, found in the corner near one of the beds. Oh, and the bag of weed that was sitting in the planter near the front door for at least a day. I responded to their survey to let them know my stay wasn't going well, and they asked if they could call... which they never did. Oh, and they charge $10/night for parking, as if this state isn't one giant parking lot. With occupancy during my stay they were taking in $1200 a night on parking. Pretty bogus in this area, even if they claim it's for "security." Just park in the neighborhood nearby and walk. Finally the GOOD part: the view and wildlife! The location may seem dull next to shopping centers, but it looks out over the mountains and it's also next to a wash. I didn't even try to go birding and saw multiple raptors, oriole, vermillion flycatchers, etc., during my stay. Go out at dusk to watch the clouds of bats streaming out from their home under the bridge! Edit: Appreciate the acknowledgement but that ship sailed bud. If you want to improve, pay your people better and invest in this property.

The hotel looks a bit dated from the outside, but in good shape, very tall palm trees. The lobby is nice, open and quiet. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms themselves are average. Decent bed, good sheets. Could be a bit quieter, you can hear halfway noises a lot, walls are on thinner side and if you are in a pool view room, you will hear the pool noises. The bathroom is a bit cramped, and not laid out all that well. Ours had a vanity that separated from the countertop. There were obvious water damage spots on the ceiling that were “fixed” by the lowest bidder, the toilet was crooked, and you needed to dislocate your shoulder to reach toilet paper on the holder. This hotel is not in the city center, not in a dense urban area, not in a popular spot, but they still have the audacity to charge you $15 (plus tax) to park there per day. I guess this is their way of seemingly having lower room prices, and offering parking as an additional option; you know for those of us that get to a hotel using a bus. When I was booking, I was not aware of that fee, now they include it as an “option” during the reservation. I guess in the future that will charge you to have room keys, use an elevator, and speak to human at check-in. Not worth the 4-star hotel rating

Summary: Really didn't like all the added fees. Rooms were clean. Amenities were good when they were paid for but the free ones were not very good.

-The rooms were clean and felt fairly nice. Be careful, the floors by the bathrooms are hella slippery- we were sliding on them barefoot. -The employees are great. They were helpful and sweet and on top of things. Only downside was that there was frequently only one employee at the desk. I saw someone put back and walk away from buying a product out of the little shop because there were 3 people ahead of him in line and the people at the front seemed to be having an extended discussion. The sinks in the rooms are slightly deeper than your average hotel sink and I was able to fit my 32oz water bottle under the faucet, which was nice BUT they put water bottles in the room with a sign that says they cost $2 each- like, why are they in the room already if they cost extra??? They did respond to our request for a microwave BUT it did take two requests before it showed up. The room did already have a fridge in it BUT the back was completely iced over, meaning they didn't dethaw it anytime recently. I was a little suspicious if it was staying cold enough from that block of ice, but had no way to check. -There's a four-plug outlet behind the desk BUT it IS /behind/ the desk. -The USB outlet next to our bed was cool but didn't work. Not sure why, it just wasn't getting power. -They did offer free shampoo and conditioner in bottles attached to the bathroom wall, and a single makeup remover wipe and wall-attached hand cream bottle... BUT no soap or body wash??? -The free internet is realllly bad. The paid one is ok. -No free breakfast. I did finally cave and pay for breakfast and it was slightly better than your average hotel breakfast- but for me personally, not really $16 worth better. I'm a cheapskate, but I am used to pretty much all hotels offering free breakfast. This stay felt a bit like spirit airlines, with the $2 water bottles, the $16 breakfast, $4(?) internet, etc. Just roll it into the price for everyone and have the amazing benefit of a once-off cost that is transparent from the start. -The little shop in the lobby did not have most of it's prices clearly posted. This felt scammy to me because you had to pick up an item, take it out to the lobby, and actually ask the price (if you didn't ask, they would just say "charge it to the room?" and you would never know how much you spent). I looked over the bill afterwards and it seems like the little seltzer can we got was $4. -No free coffee in the lobby. Maybe this is a classy person thing and I'm not classy, but I've literally never been to a hotel that didn't have coffee in the lobby. My partner was sleeping one morning and I went downstairs and they're like "there's a starbucks down the way..." There is four (two decaf, two regular) free packets of kinda "meh" individually wrapped coffee bags (like tea bags but coffee instead) and a little device to make them up with in the room. -I know others have mentioned this, but the pool is tiny and deep. I'm 5'3 and could stand at the edges but not in the middle (I think it maybe went to 6ft?)- since I'm still learning to swim, this was really weirdfor me personally; if I could swim all the way across the super short pool, I was safe, but felt like I could totally drown in the middle. It's just a weird design. My husband is a fish and doesn't think I should comment on the depth of the pool because he thought it was fine. Also there was a sewage smell as you walked from the building to the pool, coming up from below the walkway somewhere. Maybe some kind of burst pipe.

If you're well-to-do and don't count your dollars, you might like it here a lot. The facility is pretty nice, it's cool having an eating place inside the building, and room service is pretty fast. If money's tight and you're used to hotels taking care of all your basic needs without having to keep adding on cost, this is probably not a great...

It’s the staff that make this the best hotel experience!|We traveled with our 2 dogs and were thrilled when we got a free upgrade (Lifetime Hilton Diamond member) to a corner 2 bedroom suite and large outdoor patio! That’s a pets dream!! Now, for the real heroes:|The breakfast crew are a great team! Barrie and Megan were our servers for the 3 days we stayed and they were so genuine ! They were prompt , attentive, engaging , and Barrie was soo funny! We bonded with Barrie and ended our trip there with a goodbye hug and blessing! Don’t forget to get yours when you visit! The breakfast buffet is really good food! The eggs are real cooked eggs!! Not that powder egg stuff other places serve! Manny keeps the food fully stocked and his smile lights up the morning! I loved the daily treat of either fruit pancakes, French toast and even a cheese blintz! |And then there is Debra, with housekeeping, outside area… I swear she’s the hardest working person there! I see her cleaning when I am walking in, I see her cleaning the hallways and the outside pool area, every time I turn around I see Debra cleaning something! I wish my housekeeper at home cleaned as well!! |The room cleaning staff were also amazing! I hate we never met any of them, or I’d have their names, but trust me they are hard working! Coming daily to pick up our trash and bring fresh linens, the pups slept through most of their visits. But we return and our room was clean, trash taken out and fresh towels!!||Now for the not so great things, and I only mention these for you to be aware of, as a traveler. ||First let me say, the outstanding staff is the reason we will return! We can stay at a fancy place that looks great without any blemishes and their staff customer service could be lacking… customer service does not lack here! From the front desk staff quickly responding to your needs, to all the great workers (whose names I failed to get) Customer service is the reason you will book here!||Ok, so this hotel could benefit from a little updating love. There’s a misleading sign when you drive up saying it’s been fully renovated, because it hasn’t. ||We walked into our suite and the refrigerator still had the previous guests food in it and it looked like dripped meat liquid.🤢. The front desk quickly had someone come clean it up. ||We noticed many areas in our room needing love. Peeling wall paper, stained furniture, carpet needing attention, etc. ||Again, those things are surface items that can be cleaned/repaired/replaced. The staff and their outstanding customer service is why you will pick to stay here, ||Happy...

My recent stay at the Hilton Hotel East was nothing short of exceptional. I needed to stay for business and tuck in a little leisure at the end, by picking up a kayak before heading back to San Diego. The hotel was perfectly situated for both both my business needs, and leisure needs.

From the moment I arrived, Andy, the courteous clerk who checked me in, set the tone with his friendly demeanor and ability to accommodate special room requests. His professionalism and warmth made me feel instantly welcomed.

Nestled amidst the arid desert landscape, the Hilton Hotel East goes above and beyond to ensure guest comfort. HH Members: Complimentary waters were a welcome touch, particularly in combating the dry climate. Additionally, the hotel offers parking for a nominal fee of $10, providing peace of mind knowing that my belongings, including my kayak, were secure overnight in the well-lit parking lot. The quiet and secure neighborhood surrounding the hotel further enhanced my sense of safety, making it an ideal choice for travelers with valuable or recreational equipment.

The heated pool wasn't quite heated when we arrived, and our top sheet on one of the beds was stained or dirty, and that was a little disappointing. However, when we alerted the front desk, engineers and housekeepers promptly addressed these issues with care and concern. From fixing the pool heater to replacing a spotted top sheet their quick response was commendable and contributed to a hassle-free experience.

The hotel's location offers stunning views of the Catalina mountains, providing a picturesque backdrop for relaxation. Whether lounging by the pool or enjoying breakfast overlooking the sunrise, the serene desert surroundings added an extra layer of tranquility to my stay.

In addition to its comfortable accommodations and scenic surroundings, the Hilton Hotel East offers convenient amenities such as complementary shuttle service to various locations within 5 miles. This service made exploring nearby attractions a breeze - without having to drive our car around with kayaks attached – and further elevated the guest experience.

Overall, my stay at the Hilton Hotel East surpassed my expectations. It is top value for its price class. From the attentive staff to the thoughtful amenities and tranquil surroundings, it truly allowed us to get some much-needed rest and relax before making the 6 Hour drive home to San Diego.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tucson, whether for...
