I like to support local businesses was looking for a local agent. The quote State Farm gave me was more than what I had been paying with another company but I made the change anyway. Tracy kept working with me to find discounts, which was great. She asked if I'd like to enroll my son in their Drive Safe & Save program. I declined, explaining that I wasn't confident enough in his driving and that he probably wouldn't get a discount (and if the driving score is below average there could actually be a surcharge involved), that I didn't want him to be tracked. She came up with another discount for him (Steer Clear) where "all he had to do was take some modules." She signed him up. After reviewing the Steer Clear program I realized he also needs to download an app which will track his driving, which I clearly stated verbally and in emails I did not want. About a month after switching to State Farm I logged into my app and realized I have a balance due. I asked Tracy what the balance was for because I'd paid for the full 6 months in advance. After several emails not being answered, I asked Amy. She responded that it was an UW decision and the way they came up with the increase was proprietary and they wouldn't be disclosing to me the reason for the increase. I don't understand a nearly 20% increase to my quoted premium. Nothing has changed since I was quoted by SF. I'm over 50, I've never had an accident, I haven't had a ticket in 25 years, I have good credit, my autos are the same, my rated location is the same, my usage is the same. Read moreWe had a lightning strike on two of our 30 foot palm trees the end of July which caused major damage to anything connected to cable. Fortunately, our house wasn't affected due to a whole house surge protector which we had installed two years ago. However, all of our TVs, security system, pool pump, etc. etc. etc. were ruined. We chose to have everything fixed ourselves and then present the receipts for claim, which we did. We were amazed at the ease of filing our claim and receiving our check for damages. I filed the claim on a Friday and the check was in our mailbox 10 days later on a Monday! We couldn't be happier with State Farm and have been extolling your virtues to all of our friends and anyone who would listen!
