Good news! Costco has really stepped up. Customer service graciously spent the time needed to download the app and show me how to use it on my new phone. Another team member took the time to walk with me and help me find what I was looking for. Highly recommend
Pros: Great prices on many things, good dental/vision/pharmacy program, car/home savings, interesting things for sale.
Cons: 80% chance of B!!@(y customer service! Tumwater location Granted, I went when it was busy. Costco has a reputation for being a great place to work. And I realize busy times are hectic. Out of 7 Costco employees that I spoke to 2 were pleasant and professional.
1st one was rude and turned her back on me. I signed up online and was showing her the code bar. She asked the other employee. "Are people going to be showing be their phones to get in?" as if it were annoying and stupid. (I later found a flyer encouraging folks to use their phone instead of the card to get in. )The 2nd person directed me to the customer service counter, no 'Hello" and no "Welcome" .
Customer Service #1 did not say hello, and seemed to want anywhere else. That is likely going to happen as AI is being incorporated and within the next decade, her job will be turned over to a computer. She then transferred me to a 2nd customer rep after taking my Driver's license.
CS#2 did not say Hi, or Welcome either. She did go into great lengths to explain the vast differences and benefits of having the Executive membership. She said Executives get Much better discounts on medical services. I had already shopped online and know that the difference for the dental service is $4. All the smiles went away when I declined the executive membership.
The other customers, though harried were nice enough people. Sometimes we got clogged and folks were patient enough.
At checkout, the kids in front of me pulled on the rope that goes between registers so hard that it SNAPPED back hard, and could have sent me to the doctor. Luckily, I had not been in a hurry, and only moved forward after they were on the other side of the register. The noise and velocity of the SNAPBACK! shocked me and I forgot to put my purchases on the conveyor belt.
As the box girl approached, I realized my mistake and apologized. She did not acknowledge me, got an angry look on her face and began throwing my items onto the conveyor belt. That was the last straw for me. I decided right then and there that as a Google Local Guide, I was going to let folks know. Her long hair was over her name badge, but right as she was almost done, she moved her hair and the badge showed the name "Destiny". hmmmm.
On my way out, the guy checking my receipt said "Hello" and didn't look at me.
All of a sudden, I could picture walking up to Costco and being greeted by a pleasant face, friendly smile and Welcome as an improvement, even if it...
Read moreI would recommend NOT going to the food court at this Costco location. I had an issue where my receipt failed to print from the kiosk about two weeks ago. The paper wasn't loaded correctly, yet the machine functioned as if it had printed my receipt. My transaction was approved and I believed my card was charged. So, I went to tell the service people in the food court about the issue with the printer and to see if I would still be able to get my food because the transaction seemed to go through. I explained what had happened, they told me I was wrong about my transaction. They said that there was no way the transaction could have gone through without the receipt. I explained the details how my card seemed to be approved. They seemed to check the machine and tickets on thier end. They told me that they didn't have a ticket for my order. I checked my bank account which had a pending transaction. I showed them my bank account, they told me it must be a fluke and that there was no way my transaction would go through. They brushed me off and didn't bother to help me any further. This happened during a slow time and it seems odd that they didn't get their manager to help them verify on their end. I have noticed that other Costco locations will do that for their customers, that's why I mention it. Ultimately, they were acting like they didn't want to help me anymore. I hate being pushy, so I left without my order. I checked back in my bank account later to see that the transaction DID, infact, go through.
I'm not one to believe that the customer is always right. I try to always be nice to people who are working in stores, because alot of times customers are very rude and I dont want that to be me. I refuse to be the reason why someone's day is bad, but I cannot believe how dismissed I was during that experience. I only asked because my gut was telling me that I did pay for my order. I left without it. I've been to other Costco locations where the food court would go above and beyond when my order got messed up. At other locations, they have even given me my eniter order at no charge when they made a mistake. Yet this location, I paid and was still refused service. It was their error, yet they did not fully verify it. This may have been over a humble slice of pizza for my toddler, but being dismissed is what really disappointed me. This was a...
Read moreI would love to share this with Costco corporate, but I’m not sure how to do that just yet so I thought I’d leave a review for now. The other week, my plan was to make a quick stop here while my oldest daughter was at soccer practice. My tire pressure light was on, and I pulled up asking for help at the tire shop. They directed me to the self-help. I mentioned that I didn’t know how to do it (yikes! I need to learn!), but I just parked and shopped. I decided to get gas afterward. Before pulling up to the pump, 2 men approached my window and told me my tire was flat. One of the men said they’d meet me at the self-help after I got my gas. My tire was so low the machine wouldn’t work, so he told me he’d ask one of the guys in the tire shop to see if I had a nail. I had no idea who this man was, but an employee quickly came. My tire was so bad I needed a new one. The man that initially helped me offered to get me a cooler bag free of charge, and he told me that the tire shop would take care of me. I was offered the option of replacing all of my tires, and surprise, they were willing to stay late to put them on at that moment. They bagged up my cold food, and I took my 3 kids that were with me to the food court for dinner. The man that initially helped me checked in on me there and gave me an update on my van. It only took them 45 minutes to get it all done! Who was this initial man? Mark G., the manager. I only found this out by asking the tire shop employees. I figured he had influence, but man, he personally went above and beyond to take care of me and my kids. I dropped almost $1,500 that evening with groceries, gas, and brand new tires, but it was the BEST customer service I ever received. I genuinely believe we would have had a serious blow out on the highway if he didn’t stop and help. My husband and I are incredibly grateful for how much this manager cared and went out of his way to serve our family. Definitely my favorite Costco ever....
