We’ve been using UPS stores to receive and ship packages for our trucking business to reach our truckers for a while and we’ve always had pleasant experiences. The UPS stores are usually really accommodating and welcoming. I believe the owner of this Tumwater UPS store Jack Gray is completely unprofessional. His worker was pleasant and was in the process of completing the order and he stopped it. He said I could be a fraud. The nerves of him to automatically assume a customer is a fraud. I actually have a UPS box at another store, which they must verify identity to allow you to have a box and offered to have the owner from the other UPS franchised store verify my identity. He could of even called them as I suggested. I believe if I wasn’t African American he would have been more accommodating to me. I told him to Google me and call our company and offered to send a picture of the card with our trucking company name on it with ID or complete payment online. Everything I offered to do to make him feel comfortable he cut me off with “No”. Every African American isn’t a fraud Jack and there are still good people in the world. He hung the phone up on me and was very unpleasant and unprofessional. I would suggest if you’re African American don’t do business with this Jack Gray person or his...
Read moreUPS stores seem to have a varying degree of resentment towards customers doing Amazon returns, sometimes undetectable, sometimes overt. I think it trickles down from management, especially in the case of stores like this one. They told me they were going to charge me to tape my box closed. Seemed very self-satisfied to be able to tell me that too. Clowns.
Edit: After the owner's disingenuous response below, I called to see how much they charge to tape up a box, now that they are intentionally being "less courteous."
The associate said, "$2.19, unless it's a lot of tape, then more. But usually $2.19."
A quick search of industrial tape suppliers shows a bulk-purchase, 2" x 55 yard roll of 2 mil tape is about $1.40. I used not quite 24" of tape, so about 1.6 cents, let's be generous, courteous even, and call it two cents.
When I have a client I'm tired of working with, I never fire them, I just raise my prices enough to make them walk away or make me stupid amounts of money. This UPS store is either greedy or hates Amazon returns, probably both....
Read moreHow the mighty have fallen. This used to be a great and enjoyable experience before the old nice owner sold to much younger people. I was willing to give them a shot. One I never see them in the store anymore. The young Z crowd they hired is most insufferable. Every time I come in here I'm nickeled and dimed for more. I'm 99% of the time doing a return and have myself ready. I've packed my return or know they'll just slap a label on it. Now they are critical of what I've brought and even though I brought my item in the original box packed and ready with my label in hand I was told they were going to refuse my item. What!?!! Why? Oh they wanted to put in in their own box for another $4. No. You've got to take a stand and have a backbone and tell them no more. That's exactly what I did and I'm on a mission to never go back. I'll just choose UPS pickup for any return and I just bought the needed clear stick labels. This used to be so easy and now the lines are long, the staff is rude and talks down to you. Z's won't be happy until they put retail...
