What a great place to visit. The Tupelo hardware Co. was made famous because Gladys Presley bought her son Elvis Arron Presley his first guitar there. But it is pretty special for another reason, it will be celebrating it's 100th anniversary next year. And it is owned by the same family the whole time. That in itself is a very special attribute. I have been a customer for 40 plus years. They are catering to the crowd and not upholding their heritage. It has become a tourist attraction. 1994 I walked in and asked for 4 inch washers. Leon's response was "inside or outside diameter". Mr. Booth helped me find bridge reamer to do the task I needed. Today ask for something specific or unique, good luck. I needed an insulation mat for my oil furnace door. The salesperson was stupid enough to tell me Asbestos was illegal. I ordered from the manufacturer of the furnace. Hi I was there early October 2022 as part of Irish Group we got a great welcome and talk on the History of the shop and of course Elvis's Family shopping there.we did not get to see everything and we were recricted on what we could bring back with us .
