I was staying at the Hilton next door on a business trip. I walked in the door at 8:23. Was promptly seated. At 8:35 I had to flag down someone to come take my drink order and my food order. She said she didn’t know who my server was. I ordered the Caribbean Ribeye with vegetables and a side Caesar, add tomatoes. The salad came out before my drink, without tomatoes. My silverware was dirty. The lettuce tasted like it had been frozen and thawed. The Caesar dressing was not bad but not the best either. The croutons were really good. My steak came out rather fast. No big deal I like my salad and meal together anyways... but at this point I had still not seen my server. Finally a lady comes to the table and asks me if I need anything... never apologized, never introduced herself... I said no and she walked away.
The steak was very thin and undercooked. But not so bad I felt it needed to go back. I didn’t care for the flavor of the steak, but that’s just a matter of personal preference. There was way too much pineapple and sweetness and it completely overpowered the meat. It needed some char or smoky flavor to it to balance it out. The cut of meat seemed cheap... a lot of gristle and not very tender. The vegetables were cooked well, but bland.. nothing a little salt and pepper couldn’t fix. The bread was a joke. It was very dense and dry and then soaked in a greasy top coat of butter.
As far as the food goes... that’s all a matter of personal preference... and I understand that.. but pair a meal you don’t particulary like with horrible service and it makes for a really bad experience.
The ambiance was nice. Dimly lit and sleek.. modern.
I asked for my check and when she brought it back she proceeds to tell me that someone else was my server... and that she would make sure that she gave her the tip. Her name was on my receipt, not the other girls... and when did it become practice to imply a tip to a patron?! Especially when you gave hardly any service at all?! I normally would never leave less than 15% even for subpar service... and normally I tip upwards of 30%.. but I could not bring myself to do it and it’s the first time I’ve ever left a 2 dollar tip in my life.
I gave 2 stars for the atmosphere and convenience of being next to my hotel room. The service was awful. The food was not...
Read moreI don't normally do reviews but if a restaurant is worthy because the food, service & atmosphere were all great, then I will. And on the other hand, if any of the above were absolutely horrible, I must let potential customers know what I experienced. In this case, I'm super disappointed on the food & atmosphere. Hostess & manager were nice. However, the lobby/waiting area is just too small! Probably would be a little extra room if the hostess didn't have a station in there as well. When we went to our table, we literally walked about 5 steps from the waiting area, to our table. I didn't like that for a "upscale" restaurant, there was a huge lack of privacy, especially where we sat. I could clearly see into the kitchen & lobby. It felt very crammed to say the least. I could go on about other issues with lack of space & being crammed but my biggest disappointment was the food! I ordered the pasta which was $23 but literally wasn't worth a quarter! It was cold, over cooked, presentation was horrible! My Brussels sprouts were burnt!!! I was extremely disappointed. I didn't want to be rude by sending it back because I was there with friends & it was more about us finally getting to go out together, but we all agreed that our food was not good. One friend got the steak & said it was just ok. By the way, even the rolls were horrible! The best part about that restaurant was WALKING OUT! We were able to take beautiful pic in front the restaurant. Very picturesque at night. Thumbs all the way down for this! Shouldn't be considered a upscale restaurant. Would not recommend for a date night nor time with friends. After spending nearly $100 between us 3, we literally left & went straight to Texas Roadhouse because I was...
Read moreA really nice place... Servers are unexperienced in a bit ignorant of the menu. We wanted to know what Bourbons they had and if they had a list. Of course they didn't have a list because it's just like Harvey's and they don't care to make a list. So our server mentioned they had Jack and some other things which I explained to her were not bourbons. She said then she'd go ask the bartender and returned quickly and said that the bartender said he was too busy to let her know... Okay, that was a little disappointing.
Now on to the food. We had ordered the nachos for an appetizer. I can't remember the exact name but I think they were Bourbon Street Nachos. Anyway, if you want to have or see the smallest crawfish tails, this is what you want to order. It's like I was microdosing. The amount of food on the chips was negligible. The worst thing of all, they shouldn't even be calling these nachos. They should be calling it chips and dip with a very light dusting of crawfish and chorizo... The cheese comes in a bowl in the middle of the plate. Sorry guys, but that is not nachos... Nachos has the cheese melted on top of the ingredients, as to keep it from falling off the chip when you pick it up. I'm not sure what they're thinking but how the hell are the ingredients going to stay on the chip? I You guys can do better.
One of the entrees we had was chicken and shrimp ponchatrain. The description was pretty good but that was as good as it got. The chicken was dried out and didn't have much flavor and the shrimp appeared to be boiled.... The flavor was okay but I would have expected the shrimp to actually have some flavor, and did not expect the chicken to be dried out. It...
