My FAVORITE Game Workshop! I love coming to this location, because of Drew. He has been very helpful when I have questions regarding 40K and GW Products. He has helped me Several times and he's friendly and straight to the point.
This location is where I bought my first Starter pack and now I have a 3,000 Point Votann Army. It seemed as if painting the minis was going to be impossible, because of the minis on display, they look amazing. I realized that's just skill, something you learn over time. That made me want an army that looks just as COOL! I was really bad at painting, so it seemed impossible for me.
I painted a free mini which was pretty Fun and Easy. Drew gave me some good tips which helped a lot. Now I walk in the store and see the minis on display and know my painting skills improved, because those minis aren't as intimidating as when I couldn't paint. My Votann look just how I want them to look, they look Cool. I am confident with my painting abilities now, I now Can paint minis!
It's a small store, but it feels big with how much you can learn. If you're new to Games Workshop or 40K series I highly recommend starting here. Even the other people coming in to play, buy or just look around the store are nice and helpful. I've gotten some good ideas for my Votann Thanks to some of the players here.
I'm glad I got into Warhammer 40K and started here. Thank You...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDidn't know a single thing about the tabletop game before walking in, just fell in love with the world of Warhammer/40K since getting obsessed with Space Marine 2, so my wife and I popped in here on our vacation in LA.
Was helped by a super friendly, helpful guy I'm assuming is the manager. He showed me a few kits I could get if I just wanted to get a few miniatures to collect and paint, super pressure-free. The place was half-full with a handful of guys consisting of a big range in ages just chatting about the Warhammer, what was new, painting their miniatures, trading advice or knowledge. Super cool vibe.
Don't know if I have the time or money in my busy schedule for a significant investment in the tabletop, but I have a sneaking suspicion that a year from now I'll be playing it š
I would definitely recommend popping in and checking out even if you don't know anything about it-- they're very welcoming, not an intimidating experience at all. If you're reading this, and you're already experienced in 40K...you don't need my advice to go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe store manager (Drew I think his name was) really doesn't know any of the games well or has much of any accurate knowledge of the associated stories/history/fluff of each game. Seems to only know some secondary info, probably picked up by other gamers. Just felt he is a fish out of water - wearing the GW shirt but just a sales guy. His hobby skills are mediocre, feels like he just started with this company a month or so ago. Wish GW would hold on to their employees a little longer so their staff can learn something about the culture and products. Probably won't go back and wouldn't recommend. Not sure how he pulls in new gamers to the store. Didn't see even...
