La Roca Supermarket — Local services in Union City

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2023, 6:34PM: I was at La Roca, a few hours ago, and I always find great food at reasonable prices, as well as a few surprises, here and there.

UPDATE: MONDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2023, 9:33PM: Since the last time I visited La Roca, I noticed the addition of some really good grocery items. Other than that, the prices remain reasonable, the staff professional and helpful and a GREAT produce section.

UPDATE: TUESDAY, APRIL 11, 2023, 3:14PM: I have not noticed any changes. The prices remain relatively reasonable. The produce remains fantastico. The staff remains very professional and helpful.

UPDATE: Wednesday, October 12, 2022, 11:13PM: This local Hispanic supermarket has a large variety of Hispanic and non-Hispanic grocery and non-food items, too. They definitely had an increase in their prices. They also have a really good deli department in the back, too. By the way, when I was waiting to be checked out, the customer in front of me was told by the cashier that there is a separate machine for EBT cards. Credit and debit cards go through the main machine; EBT cards, via a separate machine, next to the register. Most supermarkets you can do them at the same machine, but not La Roca. The staff is helpful and polite, too.

I had shopped here since i was a little girl, however as an adult, i rather pay higher prices for a complete counter experience, the staff is Rude and highly unprofessional in the meat department! I decided to go try it again, all it took was this to choose to finish my purchase at another supermarket with butcher service.

Despite asking for the meat to be rewrapped- to avoid any potential contamination- after i asked for it to be cut due to bones a machine can cut. The employee who took my order ignored, thdn bagged my things, stating I'll double bag it.

I didnt want a double bag, I wanted my purchase HYGIENE COMPLIANT until ready to be placed in my pot/ fridge. I had to throw it out almost $50 worth of product. NO REFUNDS.

However, it is not well organized as La Placita. Space is a constraint. Names & rates of veggies/leafy greens are not displayed at all, most of the times. Another problem is I understand english so it is difficult for me to choose the veggies names of which are displayed in spanish. I use Google lens to understand what vegetable it is
