I received an appraisal from this company a few years ago that was far lower than the house was worth. And while I could complain about that fact, I won't - it is mostly a matter of opinion when you receive an appraisal. But I will complain about several mistakes they made in appraising the house that, while it affected the number, are outside of complaining about the value. First, they listed the number of rooms in my house, leaving out 1 room. Secondly, they miscounted the number of bathrooms, a 2.5 bathroom house was called 1.5. Thirdly, the person who came out to appraise the house was rude, and spent about 10 minutes total snapping pictures in the house and garage and the left. These complaints eventually led to a number lower than we believe the house was worth, but like I said, that was beside the point. Their unprofessionalism in making the errors in the first place is my gripe.
We had the appraisal ordered to refinance our house, and so when it came in lower one of the options we were given was to contest the appraisal. A futile attempt, sure - nobody likes being told they were wrong. But the response we got back from the company was insulting and condescending. If I needed to appraise a house again I would never pick this company.
